Friday Night Feed at Rock Mt SxS Challenge

As we've done the past few years, we'll have the Friday Night Feed in the pavilion approximately 4:30-5:00. Anyone that wants to attend is welcome. We ask that you bring a food item or beverage to share. Since David will be in Alaska with family on a fishing trip (he didn't schedule it) and Steve can't do the BBQ all by himself, I have an alternate source for the food. Greenley's will be bringing in BBQ chicken thighs, pulled pork and jalapeno poppers. David will be back with Steve in 2025 to fire up the smoker again. If you will attend please let me know what you will bringing. Vielen Danke!!

Dan Steingraber 06-19-2024 07:21 PM

I’ve got 10lbs of Lake Erie perch fillets.

Mike Koneski 06-19-2024 08:42 PM

Do you have a fryer?

Chuck Bishop 06-20-2024 04:50 PM

I'm hoping to be there. I'll let you decide what I should bring. Maybe Chicken Pot Pie:rotf::p:rolleyes:

Nothing that is easily transported. I can bring a pot/pan and everything I need if someone local has a propane burner like a turkey fryer burner that would help.

CraigThompson 06-20-2024 10:00 PM

Well darn I killed all those poor deer to bring the backstraps up for Friday night . But I don’t wanna be the one doing the cooking .:whistle:

Daryl Corona 06-20-2024 11:09 PM

Well my friend, you are always posting your culinary accomplishments here on the forum and you're feeding the boys at the shop, so it looks like you'll be cooking backstraps for us at the Meshoppen Meltdown. Thanks ahead of time.
Medium rare please.:):):)

I’ll see what I can come up with.

Mike Koneski 06-21-2024 08:40 AM

My neighbor is going to smoke venison backstraps for us. I’ll be giving him 3 or 4 and they’ll be on the menu too. I’m hungry now!! 😱🤪

Yes Dave. Near the water intake for the City of Toledo today in about 20 feet of water. Slow bite today but we ended up with 17 pounds before cleaning.

Dave Tatman 07-07-2024 08:02 PM

Nice! I know that area well. We’ve also caught a lot of walleye off Port Clinton.

Dave

CraigThompson 07-07-2024 10:57 PM

Dan the Man , I’m not a big fish eater . But I’ve never to the best of my knowledge tried Walleye and look forward to it !

These are yellow perch Craig. I prefer them over walleye.

Dana Fisher 07-08-2024 08:25 AM

I won't be there for the feast, but I have a large, heavy duty propane burner with 12" diameter burner that should work. I plan on coming up Thursday some time. Just let me know if you want me to bring it. It attaches to a 20lb tank. I won't be leaving until Saturday pm.

Thank you Sir. I believe that Mike has secured a burner but we will verify that.

Dana Fisher 07-08-2024 08:53 AM

I won't be there for the feast, but I have a turkey fryer burner available. I'll be arriving Thursday sometime and leaving Saturday afternoon.

Stan Hoover 07-08-2024 08:54 AM

Hey Mike,

I can bring deviled eggs as I did last year, seems like they were all devoured if memory serves correctly.
Let me know of I should be bringing anything else.

Stan

Don’t think I’ve ever had perch either , so look forward to trying them . My fish consumption is usually stripers , crappie , trout and catfish as far as what people caught . From the grocery store I like tuna , salmon , cod and mahi mahi . And of course we can’t leave out tuna sushi and sashimi !

Mike Koneski 07-08-2024 03:03 PM

Thanks Dana, our one neighbor has a fryer we will be using.

Hey Mike,

How we lookin'? Anything specific you would like us to bring?

I was thinking of bringing deviled eggs also to supplement the ones Stan Hoover is bringing. More of a good thing is better.

Is there some refrigeration available there at the pavilion?

It being a Friday, will a plain, single color shirt be acceptable? It might mean going to the back of the line tho. I probably shouldn't have said this to give you ideas!

Deviled eggs will work! The more the merrier. They can be stored in the fridge in the lodge.

As for shirt, if you wanna get lei’d you need either Hawaiian or bowling. Anyone who gets a lei goes to the front of the line.

Tom Kidd 07-09-2024 01:00 PM

Hi Bill,

We are about the same size, want me to send you a Hawaiian shirt?? I'll even wash it first.

Take Care, Tom

Gee, that's pretty good incentive. But, how do I explain?

Just tell the lovely Mrs. Jolliff that as you age you realize some things are just fun and some things are just cool, but Hawaiian shirts are both fun and cool!

I'll take you up on that Craig. I'll see you this coming Thursday.

Tom K - I'll use Craig's. Save you some postage.

I couldn't keep a straight face about all this, so I mentioned to my wife about getting lei'd at Mike's. "Yeah, sure", she said so it looks like I'm all set. I can't wait.

About like 2 years ago when I started driving home from Ernie's, I gave her a call and said I'd be home in about 3 hours.

She said she would have a nice surprise for me when I got home but she wouldn't tell me what it was.

So ya kinda wonder what she has for me so no delays driving home.

She was right, she had a fresh baked rhubarb pie for me. What could be better. Rhubarb pie is my favorite. Boy, was I happy!
