Virginia and West Virginia State Trap Shoots

The Virginia State Trap Championships will be held at the Winchester Gun Club, Stephenson, Va., July 3-7, and the West Virginia Championships will be held at the same venue July 10-14. My Parkers and I plan on attending both shoots. If anyone else plans on going, let me know.

Daryl Corona 06-15-2024 10:21 AM

Not planning on attending but best of luck to you John and your Parkers.

I’ll see if I can’t make it up one of the days . Maybe not shoot but I’d be up for lunch or dinner after .

CraigThompson 06-15-2024 12:05 PM

I’d think between the two of them you oughtta be able to shoot 2000 or so targets !

John Davis 06-15-2024 12:14 PM

Looking at 2600 targets between the two tournaments.

Best of Luck John... Though we all know you won't need luck with your shooting record!

Thanks Dean. But I’ll take all the luck you can send my way.

I shot the Virginia State shoot many times and had some of my best scores there. Great place to shoot and great people. If it still exists, have a great Italian meal at Violino's in Winchester (reserve ahead; it is small) You won't be dissapointed. And good luck, John..

John my intention is to visit Thursday July 4th and shoot the non registered SxS event . If that pans out we can do dinner afterward .

Mike Franzen 06-29-2024 05:30 AM

2600 targets! That sounds awesome. Good luck.

That sounds like two normal multi-day shoots. :)

Mr. Hall and I made the trip to the Winchester Gun Club for the VA State Trap Shoot today . We met Mr. McCormick there as he had a LOM he’d repaired for me . Then we talked with Mr. Davis a bit and his three GA buddies . After the days registered activities were over Mr. Hall and I shot the fifty bird SxS no registered event . Didn’t win anything but it was enjoyable .

John, good luck at the West Virginia State Shoot.

John Davis 07-09-2024 11:24 AM

The Virginia State shoot was a bit of a disappointment for me. My mechanics somehow got out of whack and by the time I figured out what was going on, it was too little too late. Managed only one win and that was A class in the Open Doubles Championship. It happens.

However, I’m hoping I’m now good to go and looking for better results in the West Virginia shoot. Fingers crossed.

No matter the pursuit, as you are keenly aware, if you are going to compete at the highest level EVERYTHING has to be right. The slighest, often impercepible flaw in execution is the difference in winning and losing. Glad you got it dialed in and best of luck going forward.
