The Southern SxS event of the year

Well I decided what guns will make the travel team, all Parkers this year. I have everything staged ready to go in the Tahoe. Traveling with three friends, stopping half way in PA to shoot Warrington with Daryl C. Staying at the Hampton in Sanford and have made reservations at the Flame Thursday. Friday looking forward to the Annual Meeting. Looking forward to what looks like perfect weather. It's so nice to see trees fully leafed out after the gloom of upstate NY winter. Nothing on my buy list but I have a checkbook and yea never know what will make me write the check. I have plenty of ammo to burn between Deep River and Drakes. Best of all looking forward to seeing many friends made in our small community. If you want a real treat come visit the 8ga shooters Friday at 9am at the 5 stand to see many big guns in action, plenty of fun and great shooting. Safe travels to everyone attending!

Craig, I'm not a clays shooter, but have been interested in seeing the big 8s in action. So spectators are okay? And is the location easy to find...and can one just wander over to observe? I'm bring ear and eye protection just in case.

Sorry for the naive questions.

Garry: We hold the 8ga shoot at the practice 5 stand field. The practice 5 stand field is in the same area as the Parker/Smith big tent. If your driving, at the entrance just tell the attendant your with the PGCA and drive past all the vendor tents to the back field. Plenty of parking in the field next to the tent and the two 5 stand set-ups.

Rich Anderson and I will be there and really looking forward to seeing everyone even if I can no longer shoot it's great fun. Safe driving to all

I can’t wait for the Sourhern- it’s the best weekend of the year! Ive invited a lot of peripheral gun guys to come and check it out this year.

I regret that I will not be attending the Southern this year, as it once again conflicts with the Georgia State Trap Shoot. If my Parkers and I want to make the State team again (and we do), then we have to at least shoot the three championship events on Saturday and Sunday. I will however be rooting for team Parker from a far and wish all safe travels to Sanford and back home again. The Southern truly is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Good luck at the shoot John. Break 'em all.

John, best of luck, but your work and preparation is your “luck.” Keep us posted.

Luck is the residue of design.:)

Well guys won't be making it to the Southern. Pretty Wife is turning 60 that weekend and we are doing something she wants to do. Sorry but I won't be able to take pics for PP. Will try to make it next year.

Michael, you'll be missed, but you should indeed do something for your wife's 60th (and if we see her, should we tell her you told us it was her 30th birthday?:)) Have a great time, and happy birthday to your wife.

First time I won't be there in many years. I'll be thinking of you. Be safe and have fun!

Who are you buying?

Michael Moffa 04-21-2024 04:23 PM

Yup, she's a trooper. Didn't even complain last year when the chair fell over with her in it. She wanted to do an overnighter in B'ham and go shopping and have a nice dinner, so that is what we are doing.

Sheesh! Sounds pretty dicey to me. (This comment was in response to Mike K.’s, but the tipping chair story sounds intriguing, too!)

Michael Moffa 04-21-2024 09:49 PM

Pretty Wife was sitting in a directors chair watching the practice rounds and the small foot print chair legs sank into the soft soil (when doesn't it rain at the Southern) and she tipped over backwards getting wet and muddy. I was else where doing elsewhere things when that happened and some of the nice PGCA members helped her up. She didn't say a word when I got back other than she didn't want to sit in the directors chair no more. That's when I saw the mud and she told we what happened. Didn't complain or demand to go back to the hotel. To say I'm the luckiest guy in the world does not do it justice.
