You can write your name in the blank space with a felt tip pen. It's removable with alcohol or even hand sanitizer according to the maker. Those white marks are from the overhead lights, they aren't on the badges obviously.

I got mine today. I went looking for my old Dymo label maker to see if I still had some tape for it, and lo, I did. Black might have been better, but then again maybe the wood look is OK.
