is something off with this

I am looking at this reproduction, it is a two barrel set 20ga. it looks as though someone finished it in grey or silver. the barrels are blued 26/28"

what looks off is the bolt in the hinge area. I thought the screwdriver head was on the left side.

The hinge pin is in backwards.

The metal was just left white after engraving.

thank you Mr Dudley.

Were some repeos offered “in the white” and if so could this gun have starred off as one of those?

Does that affect function in anyway?

Dean Romig 05-10-2024 11:40 AM

No Mike it does not.

Only a small percentage of the A1S Repros were offered in the white.

Just so I know in the future, were the in-the white specials offered in two barrel sets?

Yes, in most, if not all, gauges and configurations. Some single barrel sets and a few 3-bbl. sets as well.

In the white Repro

Anyone know the person(s) responsible for the engraving and the stockwork on this shotgun?

Bill Murphy 05-13-2024 03:48 PM

The stockwork looks like factory Repro work. Don't know about the engraving. One poster seems to be familiar with this gun.

I thought the same thing. Thank you for your input.

The $64,000 question is, why would anyone with any knowledge remove the hinge pin? It was not engraved, at least not the side we see. Certainly not the easiest thing to do but maybe easier on a new gun. But could it have been done at the factory? I remember the guns in the white that were to be engraved, but the reversal makes little sense.
