Here's the registration form. The more shooters preregister, the better we can prepare for the event. Updated form for a 30 bird 8g event.

Craig Larter 03-02-2024 05:16 PM

Mike: I would like to see the 8ga event go to 25 targets, any chance that could happen??

I think we changed it last year after the registration was published. I don’t remember if it was 25 or 30 targets. I’ll throw whichever you guys want to shoot, 25 or 30, either are fine with me. 😁 I’ll change the registration when we settle on 25 or 30.

Just change it to 50 and throw in a bottle of Ex-strength Tylenol and be done with it.

Tylenol? If Craig T keeps mounting his gun on his upper arm he’ll need oxy!! :rotf::rotf::whistle::eek:

I’d like 18 or 20 targets :bigbye::rotf::rotf::rotf:

Had to be thirty judging by the top scores .

Craig Larter 03-03-2024 05:56 AM

Let's go with 30 like last year.

Mike Koneski 03-06-2024 03:33 PM

We did go with 30. Reposted the registration days ago.

CraigThompson 03-06-2024 04:36 PM

This year why don’t you make the 8 gauge event a requirement for the iron man thing . Just saying for a friend :rotf: Five prelim events , the 8 event and the main event . 360 targets total !

If we made the 8g a 50 bird field event, then it would be eligible for the Iron Man. I don't know how many guys want to shoot 50 shells out of a 12+ pound gun in that short of a time span? That would be a workout.:bowdown:

John Davis 03-07-2024 06:45 PM

Never shoot a gun that weighs more than you do.

I dunno I’m kinda heavy :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Mike Koneski 03-07-2024 07:34 PM

John, it’s fun!! It just takes a bit more schwoop to get that gun swinging!

Here's the new ad for our July SxS shoot....

CraigThompson 05-05-2024 07:36 PM

Yes sir I’m only doing two multi day shoots this year I think , Spring Southern and Rock Mountain !

Mike Koneski 05-07-2024 05:35 PM

A couple items to add.

1) We will be adding a 30 bird field event in 8g for our manly shooters who can't get enough of the big guns! There will be a trophy for that event.

2) Christine from RST said if anyone wants RST shells to go onto their website and see what is available. You can call and speak with Chris or leave a voice mail or send her an email with your order. Chris will bring the shells to The Rock and will bring anything extra they have on hand for sale. That'll save you a lot of $$ since you won't be paying freight and hazmat charges.

So you’re 8 event will be on the course this year and not the five stand or you will do 8 gauge events on both ?

No Craig, there will be the usual 30 bird 5-Stand 8g plus the Field Frenzy 8g on the course. 6 stations, 5 birds per. One single A (two shot option), report B-C and a simo A-C.

Field event can be shot Thursday through early Saturday afternoon. 5-Stand will be sometime Friday when everyone is ready to shoot it.

Mike Koneski 06-16-2024 01:08 PM

Here's another update on our Northern SxS......

1) Poulin Auctions will be accepting consignments for their Fall auction to be held November 4-6. You can bring your items to The Rock and give them to Malcolm who will be here representing Poulin.

2) Great Bay Outfitters will be setting up as a vendor too with some fine vintage guns for sale.

3) RST will bring any ammo ordered from their website to The Rock for you so you can save on shipping costs. Chris will also bring extra shells when we makes her deliveries.

4) The Super Sporting course event is now a trophy event and will count for any Iron Man scores.

5) We are still discussing the possibility of adding a Field Gun 5-Stand event for any gun 6 lb 13 oz and under. Daryl and I have to work out the details. There might be $$ awarded 50-30-20 instead of a trophy.

CraigThompson 06-16-2024 01:37 PM

Where’s Great Bay located ? Only thing I could Google under that name was a place in Egg Harbor , NJ that was a fishing , kayak , bicycle place

Here's the updated registration form. Note the Fox Field Gun Challenge and the Grouse Walk are not on the registration. The Grouse Walk is a trophy event but you can sign up in the lodge anytime for it. The Fox FGC is a $$ event and that too can be signed up in the lodge. Both events can be shot as many times as you like for score. As was said previously, the Fox FGC will pay out every 10 shooters all three days. If there's enough interest it will run Sunday too.

Mike Koneski 06-23-2024 03:10 PM

Here's a change we are putting in place for the Main Events. As the registration form shows, when you enter a single Main Event the cost is $85. We will be giving a discounted rate to shoot both Main Events as trophy rounds for $150. You're welcome.

Thanks Mountain Man

8g Update at Rock Mountain

Since we will have two 8g events of 30 birds each, for those who shoot both events, we will us the combined 8g scores as one part for Iron Man scores. As most of you know we take one Main Event score and five 50 bird event scores and total them to determine who wins the Iron Man award. That'll make certain 8g shooters happy! You're welcome.

On a side not as an added incentive to shoot both cannon events . There will be a combined HOA trophy for the two 8 events . So theoretically you could win three 8 gauge trophies . One for five stand , one for the field event and a third for the combined score of the two events .

Mike Koneski 07-16-2024 06:29 PM

Correct.
