Great cover picture of our own ‘master of all trades’ and BOD member Mike Franzen.

How does he ever find the time for all the things he’s into???

Congrats Mike on your coveted Black Belt !!

Mike, congratulations on your accomplishments and your lifestyle.

You have not gotten the one I sent either?

Randy G Roberts 02-16-2024 05:38 PM

I especially enjoyed Arts article about Allan Swanson. Very well done Art. Many thanks.
Congrats on the belt and the bird Mike. I'm a little surprised you used a Parker, I'll expect you to take the wary Tom hand to hand in the future :)

Mike is amazing.

In today's post. Beat The Remington Society Journal this quarter.

Mike Franzen 02-16-2024 07:04 PM

Thank you Dean and all for the kind sentiments. I try to live my life to the fullest.

I cannot remmember did you kill a gobble gobble bird in MS when hunting Charlie’s place ?

Chuck Bishop 02-16-2024 09:30 PM

The magazine just keeps getting better and better!

Ian Civco 02-16-2024 09:38 PM

Why is it mailed in a transparent plastic wrapper? Not everyone is as pro 2A as we are. It’s best just not to advertise and MUST be mailed in an opaque wrapper, navy blue or black, or possibly green.

It feels good to piss off a leftist. If an anti doesn’t like what’s on the cover, said anti can call the male editor and he will tell the anti how little he cares about any snowflake feelings.

It increases the chances that it gets discarded into the trash. It also advertises that a residence may contain firearms within.

I wouldn't want to piss off the female editor either. :nono:

Dean Romig 02-17-2024 08:03 AM

I’m kinda glad it comes in a transparent wrapper.
I’m proud of who I am and what my interests are and I’ll never try to hide that.

ANEN Dean! We have nothing to hide nor be ashamed of. We must not allow the wokeness of the left to change who we are. No compromise!

Oh yes! She can be vocal too but she’d use nicer words and be much less “aggressive” shall we say. :rotf::whistle::corn:

My thanks to all who contributed to another great publication!

Ian Civco 02-17-2024 02:47 PM

I don’t know. It’s really no one’s business what I get in the mail and a magazine with firearms emblazoned on it isn’t really going to convince rabidly liberal postal workers that they are missing the boat and our cause is a worthy one.

Other collector’s associations mail their publications discretely and don’t even spell out the name of the organization and use abbreviations instead. For example, the Smith & Wesson Collector’s Association becomes “SWCA”.

Daniel Carter 02-17-2024 03:32 PM

I understand the reasons behind the desire to not advertise your interest in guns. The internet has changed everything in that our participation in these forums gives away our identities and a well versed person with bad intent can easily find you.
Theft is my biggest concern and my mailman sees the deer heads on the living room wall when he brings PP and knows how they got there. My guns are in 2 Mosler fire proof safes unless in use and other security precautions are taken
Everyone in town knows i shoot and hunt so the locals are aware. My concern is the pro and i have done all i can to defeat him therefore i do not worry about it.
Have a friend who turns his suv backend to the house so that no one can see him put his cased Browning in the back. I asked him if he was ashamed of what he did and he stopped.

Craig Larter 02-17-2024 04:00 PM

The PGCA is so fortunate to have so many dedicated members that freely contribute time and articles for the Parker Pages. Very nice edition!

Mike Koneski 02-17-2024 04:51 PM

With the latest statistic of over 60% of households in the USA owning at least one firearm, one should realize that the chances of entering a home with a firearm is greater than not should comfort firearm owners and warn off bad actors. It is what it is.

Participation on this forum, particularly, gives away our identity. I brought that up awhile ago. Other forums identify you by your username. This one feels the need, for whatever bizarre reason, to identify you by name. Still don’t understand that.

It’s best to go about life discreetly.

Mike Koneski 02-17-2024 05:17 PM

Using an actual name helps get rid of trolls.

Bill Murphy 02-18-2024 05:59 AM

It will always be easy for bad guys to figure out your interest in guns. It is best to limit your connection with bad guys and educate your siblings to do the same. Backing your Suburban up to your door to unload guns doesn't solve the problem, but it may help.

John Davis 02-18-2024 07:24 AM

Just about everything I do, wear, buy and receive in the mail identifies me as a gun owner. Not sure that hiding my Parker Pages is going to help me much.

BTW, Great issue and thanks to all who contributed. I always look particularly forward to Parker Chronicles. The turkey talk had me laughing out loud.

Wayne Owens 02-18-2024 08:00 AM

Look at all the nearly daily NRA mail members receive. It is clearly, boldly marked and I would think that would give anyone the idea that firearms are in the home. Or what about the flyers of upcoming gun auctions? I receive many of those throughout the year.

Mike Franzen 02-18-2024 06:40 PM

I got my copy yesterday. The Paparazzi is so hard to avoid sometimes. But seriously I love the cover!

edgarspencer 02-18-2024 07:58 PM

Has anyone else noticed something odd about the gun shown in the Morphy auction ad on the back page. They state that it's a AAHE 28ga.

Stan Hoover 02-18-2024 08:02 PM

Thanks to everyone on another great magazine, it is great to be able to know some of the people who participated in these articles.

What a great gun to use for a turkey hunt there Mike!

That’s why we wear transitions lenses!! The constant flashing can damage your vision. :rotf::shock::whistle:

Single bead around bolsters?

No, single bead is correct. The stock is checkered as an AH or BH, but not AAH.

MARK KIRCHER 02-19-2024 07:17 AM

I note the Back cover listing a Morphy auction the first few days of May this year describing a small bore AAH.

I cannot seem to locate details on this auction or gun on Morphy site or anywhere else. Is this an accurate set of dates? Does anyone have link to this gun description?

Please post if so. TY.

Great job as always Mike and Sammy -

I strongly disagree with your statement Edgar - it has the ‘foliate flourish’ of the AAHE. The AH and BH were quite a lot more subdued. Some AAHE’s and A1S had an even longer one but I think it depends on who the checkerer was and possibly the period.

.

Why am I not surprised?

I’ve never seen a double A without the enclosed checkering surrounding the fleur.
I wasn't saying anything about the "foliate flourish", back on the body of the stock, only the checkering at the head of the stock.

Well back in the 20’s when I was a young man and you were just a twinkle in papa’s eye ……….., uh oh wait that was another damn dream or was it a nightmare :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
