Wow look at the drop on that first one!

Stan Hoover 01-26-2024 11:03 AM

Thanks for showing your beautiful Ithaca's there Ed.

Can you tell me the barrel length on the 16 gauge hammer gun, that is fairly rare gun?

Ed Hartwell 01-26-2024 11:18 AM

The Hammer gun has 30" barrels

We may have twins, other than the barrels are 32” on this gun

Ed,
does "two bolt" refer to the lockup on the guns action?

Ed Hartwell 01-27-2024 10:46 AM

Yes. According to Walt's book, in 1915 Ithaca came out with the "new two bolt hammer gun" which was a new lock mechanism. This replaced the old hammer gun of 27 years. I believe only about 300 two bolt guns were made in all grades before production of hammer guns ended.

I recently saw a Fox Sterlingworth of all things with a factory 3.5" DAH. It was just weird looking.

Please share more photos of the grade 5. Nice collection!

I foolishly bought a high condition DH Parker 8 gauge with 36" Titanic Steel barrels with 4 1/2" drop at heel. Silly me.

Hey Murphy,

I could kindly offer to take that awful gun off your hands, I’m not sure I could hit anything, but I would have fun trying :)

Bill Murphy 01-29-2024 09:23 AM

Stan, oddly the gun letters with the 4 1/2 inch drop. Also oddly, the gun feels very comfortable in the hands.

The offer still stands Murphy, let me know the pickup address:corn:

Sorry for taking your thread sideways there Ed, that is a very fine 5E there.

Another Ithaca NID 4E - this one with a Number 5 checkered buttstock that's serial numbered to the frame inside its trigger guard inlet. 32" Vent Rib with double triggers. She has a HRBP for cold weather shooting along with a fitted repro Sunburst pad for summer time fun. Two sets of mounting holes make that easy.
