Parker Serial Number Guide

Hello and thank you for accepting me into the group.
My father in law has 5 Parker shotguns and I’m trying to find a database or hard copy to find information on these guns by their serial numbers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris Robenalt 12-28-2023 09:29 PM

Kevin, welcome aboard. The Patker Number and Serialization book is a great source for identifying what you have.
Chris, AZ

Kevin Pellegrino 12-28-2023 09:36 PM

Thank you, Chris!
Where would I find that book?

Kevin Pellegrino 12-28-2023 09:39 PM

$145 on Amazon. Wow!

First thing to do, is make sure you're treating his daughter well
:)

Kevin Pellegrino 12-28-2023 09:53 PM

Lol, he offered them to me so I guess I’m doing ok!

todd allen 12-28-2023 10:01 PM

Happy wife - happy life!

Kevin Pellegrino 12-28-2023 10:19 PM

Truth!

Kevin Pellegrino 12-28-2023 10:23 PM

I’m a bit confused on the “20” frame size

Reggie Bishop 12-29-2023 06:54 AM

The frame size will not be listed in the serialization book. I am not sure what "20" you are referencing but the frame size will be on the barrel lug. If it is a 20 gauge gun it could be a "0" frame, a "1" frame or even a "2" frame. A one frame 20 gauge is uncommon and a "2" frame 20 gauge is rare.

Dean Romig 12-29-2023 07:24 AM

Correction - the Parker Identification and Serialization book is only available in soft cover and is $45 or a bit less, not $145 as stated earlier in this thread.
Look for it on Amazon or ABEbooks.com

Finding it difficult to attach a photo, but the frame number on the barrel lug on this gun is definitely a “20”
I’ll try to attach a picture again.Attachment 122083

Reggie Bishop 12-29-2023 08:15 AM

That is the gauge of the gun. Not the frame size.

Russ Jackson 12-29-2023 08:21 AM

Kevin ,you don't show the entire lug in your picture ,behind the 20 toward the rear of the lug should be another Number as stated earlier it should be an 0 ,1 or possibly a 2 ! That number is your frame size ! Then on the end of the lug you should find the last three digits of your serial # !

Kevin Pellegrino 12-29-2023 08:44 AM

Ah, ok! Thanks so much!
Please excuse my lack of knowledge on these firearms. I’ve never acquired any of this caliber, so to speak. My collection consists of handguns and newer rifles/shotguns.

Attachment 122084This is the book I saw on Amazon

Chris Travinski 12-29-2023 08:56 AM

That's the one! It's a little cheaper on the ABE books website.

Chris Robenalt 12-29-2023 08:57 AM

Kevin, you can find the book on ebay for around $32. If not, send me a PM, my cousin has an extra he'd sell and mail to you.
Chris, AZ

Brian Dudley 12-29-2023 09:00 AM

The serialization book can be had online. Normally it is around $40

Kevin Pellegrino 12-30-2023 02:27 PM

Ok, so upon further inspection, it turns out it’s a 20ga, VH Grade, Frame 0, with a double beaded barrel. Possibly a skeet gun?
It sure is pretty! Any idea on a value?

Reggie Bishop 12-30-2023 03:19 PM

Kevin we would need a lot more information and pictures to properly assess the gun. I don’t think it has “skeet” gun specs but of course you can shoot skeet with any gun.

Kevin Pellegrino 12-30-2023 03:31 PM

Absolutely. What info would you like? I’m trying to upload some photos

Hi Dean,
Would you have any idea on the value of this one?

J. Scott Hanes 12-30-2023 06:37 PM

Well, it is a nice VH 20 but has a higher grade replacement stock. Very nice but not original. A nice upgrade with beautiful wood. It is not
a "SKEET" gun or would have been noted on the uderside of the barrel flats. The chokes may in fact be 'skeet' dimensions but you would need to measure them. Beautiful wood!

Congrats!

Dean H Hanson 12-30-2023 06:50 PM

An anomaly is tough to value. Very high grade furniture! The sub gauges are moving the needle as of late. I'll wait for others to chime in.

Kevin Pellegrino 12-30-2023 08:48 PM

I’d just like to thank you all for the insight and knowledge you’ve all given me. In this day and age, you just can’t trust everyone and you really need to watch your back. The people I’ve spoken to on this forum have been nothing short of fantastic. I actually just got off the phone with Dean Hanson and for never speaking to him before, after we hung up I felt like I’ve known him for years. There really are some good people left in this world and I thank you all. I’ll definitely keep you guys posted on what happens with these fine firearms.
Thanks again!

Could anyone recommend a reputable sxs gunsmith in the Swansea Massachusetts area?

Kevin Pellegrino 12-31-2023 10:59 AM

Thank you, Dean!

Alfred Greeson 12-31-2023 03:20 PM

Treasure those guns, you may be shocked at their value.. He must have loved his guns and had a good appreciation for Parkers.

Kevin Pellegrino 01-03-2024 06:53 PM

Well, the VH 20ga is still a bit of a mystery. The serial number isn’t in the Parker Serialization book. I will be checking under the trigger guard tang to see if the stock has the same serial number as suggested by Dean Hanson. Stay tuned!

allen newell 01-04-2024 04:39 PM

I've known Dan Cullity and his son, Ryan, for many years. Their work is exceptional.
