I’m toying with the idea of having the engraving on my Repro SSS re-cut and embellished by Gournet.
I’m also thinking of having the pheasants on the floor plate removed and asking Mr. Gournet to engrave a game scene based on the picture of a mount of two Prararie Chickens I’m having done. Question.. is the Prararie Chicken engraving appropriate given that the Repro is based on a Remington era DHE? Please fire away! Brett |
Go for it. Anything Geoffroy does is correct. It's an interesting idea.

You’re customizing your repro - it’s that simple. Do what you want. If it was an original high condition Parker I would advise against it. Look at the A1S Repros from the Custom Shop that were engraved (mostly by Gournet) to some very unusual motifs…
If anybody can do it, Geoffroy can! . |
Absolutely go for it! Since you already have had your SSS custom-stocked with that fabulously figured piece of English walnut, might as well have Gournet customize it further with the Prairie Chickens! But, why stop there? You could even have him do the side panels with game scenes of your choice . . . hey, it's only money!

DO IT !!! That would look sharp !

Do whatever you want. Go for it!

I agree, do it. I love Geoffrey’s work. The A1 I picked up that he did is out of this world gorgeous.

If you want it to look like a Parker, ask for him to do it in the “old style”. Vs. More modern bulino work.
See here a repro 28g that I am doing with him now. “Upgrade” to CHE style. Maybe it will provide some inspiration for your project. Note that the bottom and sides were completely wiped out and re done from scratch. Double setters were by the clients request. Attachment 121590 Attachment 121591 |
I have seen Brian's project and it is stunning -
a conversation with Gournet may be more rewarding than our opinions and as said, your gun - your desires |
Thank to all for the encouragement!
Brian, inspiration indeed. That gun is absolutely stunning!! |

My two cents are it's your gun and you have an itch that needs be scratched for doing a personalized upgrade on it.
I did a similar custom upgrade on a Model-21 20ga DT gun and am very happy I scratched the itch I had for doing a prairie bird game scene themed gun. Just do it and don't look back. |
That’s wonderful! And I’m glad to know I’m not the only crazy one.. :)
