Checkered Butt Question

Anyone ever seen a Parker checkered butt in this design? I haven't.

Daryl Corona 12-07-2023 08:06 AM

Nope, not me and I've got 5 of them.

Brian Dudley 12-07-2023 08:27 AM

Lets see the rest of it.

I haven’t seen such a checkering pattern but is sure of Parker quality and could very well be original. Definitely a Grade C or higher.

It is a DHE 20. I don't have any other pictures.

Dean Romig 12-07-2023 06:41 PM

I would have expected a higher grade, but anything is possible with Parkers.

I don't think it's Parker, and is too different from any of the 'normal' deviations from standard. The corner transitions aren't that good either.

Okay Reggie, fess up. Where’d you get the picture? And do you have any evidence of the make of the gun?

It’s a 20 gauge skeet listed on GI. The gun looks legit all but the checkered butt. I have no interest in the gun but having owned 3 checkered butt Parkers I had never seen that pattern.

Mike Koneski 12-07-2023 08:09 PM

Could be legit Reggie? Heck, Mills and I both have 20g Trojans with checkered butts.

edgarspencer 12-07-2023 08:21 PM

I've never had a Parker with a checkered butt, and they really aren't my thing, but(t) from those I've seen, there seems to be a style harmony with the wrist checkering. The one Reggie shows doesn't remind me of any grade wrist checkering on a Parker.

To my eyes the butt in question shows a kinship to some of the beavertail checkering patterns of DHE and above.

Brian Dudley 12-07-2023 09:02 PM

The bottom looks parker-esque, but the top looks straight from outer space. Very different.

David C Porter 12-07-2023 09:02 PM

Too crude to be an original Parker.
