The Richard Flander’s Hammer Ten:
8 Attachment(s)
According to Bruce Day’s Alaskan -20 degree story, though unconfirmed, this may be the “Outhouse Blaster”.
|
Nice buy there Bruce,
That is a nice 10, and the story about using it in the outhouse is one for the ages. Stan |
I would prefer a Parker with a little more condition.

I guess I missed Bill posting photos of all the wonderful Parker’s he talks about. Maybe repost ?
Yes , that is the famed outhouse blaster ! It would be difficult to find a higher condition hammer Parker . |
Bruce, wow, what a gun.

I actually remember when Richard posted a picture of him standing up on the seat gun pointed 'down and in'. My first reaction was "WTF", until I read the accompanying description. While it bordered on 'TMI' (Too Much Information), it was Richard, and it was hysterical.

Here we go guys, make sure you clean that gun real well when you receive this Famous Parker Outhouse Gun:)
|
That brings an entirely new meaning to the old phrase "shoot the sh*t"!!
|
I tried to buy his 28 repro but got distracted by the grandkids at the moment of truth and a dealer beat me out. Looked like an interesting gun as part of a special run of 100.
|
Great gun!

I wondered if that was actually number 1 of 100. I have seen several series guns like that over the years and a lot of times they never sell out. I found 3 or 4 that had sold over the last 5 or 6 years and don't believe any had a number higher than the 20's. Conversely, I can't imagine that the company would sell a special model on demand. It is very possible that they had a deal, presold them and then ordered to cover the sales. It would be interesting to know a little more about the series. |
Double post.
|
I was kinda intrested in the hammer 10 but already having one identical to it I wasn’t gonna go anywhere near the final price .

100 years from now that beautiful piece will have a prominent spot in The Parker Museum and, next to it, the outhouse photo along with a fancy brass plate with an inscription describing its provenance and it's place in history responsible for the evolution of the phrase "shoot the breeze" (reported origin The Great World War) to "shoot the sh*t" (origin credited to Norman Mailer in 1940's) to "shoot the 10" (origin Richard Flanders).

That Craig guy is no more moving out of Orange than I am moving into Orange. Call me in three years and tell me I'm wrong. What are the five guns you're moving with, Craig? All of us are anxious to meet your extended family when they arrive at Dulles. :rotf::rotf:

I think I recall the first time I saw that one. It was around 2009 or 2010 in the glow of a head lamp after we had set up the goose decoys in a northern Alberta field. Those barrels just sparkled in the light. If I recall correctly it was the first time Richard was going to hunt with it. He sure was tickled with it, and for good reason. She is a beauty. I was shooting a top lever 0 grade short 10 that's recorded in Parkers Found as the last with laminated barrels. Richard's good friend Trigg Davis was shooting a J.L. Rawbone short 10 of mine that he shot better than I ever did. By coincidence I came across a partial hard case of short 10 bismuth hand loads a couple of months ago that I couldn't remember where they came from as I never loaded bismuth. It took a minute to remember that Richard had left them with me after that hunt. Take good care of her, Bruce. I'm glad it went to someone who appreciates it.

It couldn’t have been much different when new. I am no longer “Barry B.” On the PGCA December homepage. John D. thought “Barry B.” was my Hollywood screen name.:rotf:

Did Richard buy that beauty from Puglisi??

This thread had me digging in the safe for some of my hammer 10's . I've got a match to this gun but not with as much condition . Also have a 32" Grade 2 on a 3 frame as well . And the Grade 1 two barrel set on a 2 frame consisting of 26 and 30 inch barrels . Kinda has me wanting a Grade 2 top lever 2 frame 28" 10 again :rotf:
