2023 Parker Sells/trade Buys??
2023 had been an active year for me. Sold 6 and purchased 4, bought a BHE 12/32 with 2 7/8" factory chambers high original condition, Parker DH 8ga 36" rare gun but not much condition, DHE 12/30 circa 1920 bench mark near mint original condition gun and a duck blind shooter #3 frame 12ga 28". How about you??? Don't ask me about LCS or Lefevers LOL!

Too many purchases to mention Craig, but it was a good year! Now it's time to trade a few and upgrade. Looking to trade for an XE 12 my friend has.

Craig, Sold 5 bought 5, Ithaca 4E and a 7E ,1878 Colt, 1874 Sharps, and that 1892 Winchester, no Parkers bought so far, I thought as I got older I would not buy many more guns but what the heck I like em! Gary

I’ve moved a bunch of stuff and I’m not finished yet . I bought three or four things and all almost immediately were back out for sale . I’ve seen two this year that I’d truely like to have and of course neither are for sale .

Sold a DH and CHE to fund an A1 Special purchase.

Craig is your new BHE 32” a Damascus gun? Since your Parkers normally are. Sounds like a wonderful gun!

Did not sell any guns this year
Bought: A Zoli 28g round body Pernice Perazzi MX8 Nikko Shadow bunker gun Home defense beast Ithaca 4E SBT and finally one Parker A 28" 12g VHE brought to life by Turnbull with stunning wood and great dimensions. I was told the 2 3/4" chambers and IC/M chokes are factory but it's not in the serialization book. I'll have to go home and look again at the stamps on the water table. I think most of my selling is done for a while. |
Lucky Finds
After selling several other guns I was able to purchase a CHE 12 and a CHE 16.

i bought no parkers sold 1 parker bought the davenport 10 ga single barrel and a winchester 1892 25-20 carbine......charlie

I've sold off most of my random guns and earlier this year I put out a WTB for an honest 12g/32" Parker with good dimensions and tight chokes. It took a while but since then I snagged several good ones in Grades VH, VHE, DH, along with a 28" VHE that will see the grouse woods in a few weeks. They added to two Parkers I already owned. Some of my Fox friends will think this is heresy but right now I have more Parkers than Foxes. :)

While not a Parker, I got an Ithaca Mag 10 which is a great gun.

Frank, you may by now have found that a Parker “gets the game” every bit as well as a Fox. . |
Bought a very nice 12g Trojan for Tad. For me, bought an 8g P grade 34" and a really nice 12g 32" DHE with great dimensions. Might have been another one or two but I don't remember if they were 2023 or 2022. Picked up some classic varmint rifles. But that's a completely different thread topic.

A good friend decided to move out of his Parkers and into another area of collecting. I was fortunate enough to get the call. I now own two Fabulous grade 7 12 bores.
I also bought what I suspect is the only 20 bore 32" cutaway gun at the G&D auction earlier this year. Sold off a bunch of dust collectors. Looking to add. Time to go duck hunting first- Headed to Manitoba tomorrow! |

Mark that is a beauty! Gonna shoot some mallards with those AAHEs? I think I know the answer already!
|
I sent one down the road in a buy / trade deal for a VHE skeet. That's the only gun I've picked up in a year or so, just not much I want these days.

Fox is a strong second to Parkers in my book.

In 20 and 16ga Foxes rule compared to Parker 20/16's. The frame of a Fox is much more petite and Foxes generally weight less than Parkers. The Parker frame is to long and looks out of balance on 20/16's. I expect lots of hate mail LOL!!

On a side note I once had a Parker BHE 20 30" straight stock and a Fox DE 20 30" straight stock side by side on my rack. The Parker BHE 20 is still there. :) |

Mike mentioned Fox small bores for the uplands. Besides their weight and looks, IMO Foxes are better than Parkers for the inevitable bumps and falls while upland hunting. Take it from a guy who does chokes. Vintage Parker steel barrels are typically quite soft and easily dented. I heard that from an old time gunsmith 40 some years ago and confirmed for myself when opening chokes on both makers. Fox barrels are typically way harder. I much prefer to do Parker chokes = quick, easy and very little wear on the reamers. :)
Here's one of my tapered choke reamers and free-cut chips from a Parker (both barrels) done about a month ago for a local friend who asks a lot of questions for his friend. :rotf: Next time I do a Fox I'll post another pic showing the difference in chip size and shape from tougher reaming. |
