Made in the USA Strap Vest

Did you know Duluth Pack makes a strap upland vest? I didn't!

That's nice, looks like a Filson with some fancy trim. I can't afford, that's for sure!

Final Rise vest for the WIN!

Andrew Pifer 08-07-2023 01:32 AM

I was going to say, reminds me of my Filson Strap Vest with a few accoutrements. Like Mr. Robenalt said, a bit rich for my taste but I would consider if I didn't have my blaze Filson vest.

Cheers,

Andrew

A goal of mine is to wear out my Filson products.

Bill Murphy 08-07-2023 09:51 AM

I have a great collection of bird and skeet vests, very few of which are compatible with my mature body. :crying::crying:

Destry L. Hoffard 08-08-2023 06:20 PM

Yeah, unfortunately quite a bit is. It's sad to see. That being said I still enjoy supporting their made in USA stuff. But thats about all I buy from them and they're getting real proud of it.

Exactly what I was alluding to. They've about priced themselves out. Was in the market for one of their cases just to have a good case for my sxs's, something that does the justice to them, but to me a $400 shotgun case isn't cost effective. I am very happy to see that Boys has taken some interest in the USA made market and had Gokey make some cases and bring manufacturing back to the USA, at least for some of the line.

Destry L. Hoffard 08-09-2023 09:27 PM

Oh yeah? I didn't know Boyt had made an effort to come home. That's good to hear.

Yessir, I was glad to see it as well. I guess there is some affiliation between Gokey and Boyt. Glad to see some Boyt's again made in USA!

Best,

Andrew

Boyt Harness co. owns Gokey as far as I know.

Destry L. Hoffard 08-13-2023 11:29 PM

They do apparently. I think all the Gokey stuff is mostly USA made.

Yes, I do believe that is the case(haha). Per my google, Boyt does own Gokey. Regardless, I am glad to see Boyt's made in the USA (even if they aren't made in Iowa) and will always try to support made in USA companies/products over imported goods.

I've got some thoughts on this. I'm willing to pay twice as much to get a better product made in the USA. Not 4 times as much. Filson has long since moved into the 4 times as much category. I'm not a poor man nor rich man but can afford to do or buy most things that I really want within reason. That's because I don't spend needlessly.

Stan Hillis 08-25-2023 07:17 AM

Fine looking vest and I'm sure it would last a lifetime but I wouldn't pay that much for a vest on which I'd have to put duct tape, around those steel strap "adjusters", and steel belt buckle. They'd wreak havoc on a shotgun's finish, eventually. If they wanted to stay away from plastic ones, which I fully understand, they should have made little canvas covers for those "adjusters", and used some other means to fasten the waist belt.

I have a nice leather speed bag for over the shoulder carry, sold by McAlister, that has sliding leather covers on the strap that cover the metal hardware to protect your gun. Somebody at Duluth dropped the ball on that, IMHO.

Destry L. Hoffard 08-25-2023 08:17 AM

Filson doesn't hardly matter anymore. They've moved 95% of their production overseas in the past few years.

Aaron Beck 08-25-2023 01:50 PM

Filson now makes stretch pants.
Just sayin'
