Winchester Model 21 Service/Repair

Good morning:

Any recommendations for service/repair for the Model 21?

I know that Art's and Midwest Gun Works have good reputations for Brownings.

Was curious if anyone has sent them a Winchester Model 21.

Thanks in advance for any info.

What exactly are your needs? CSMC is generally considered the go to place for Model 21 work, but there are other choices depending on what repairs are needed!

Thanks. Looking for an alternative to CSMC.

The frame or receiver and barrels are sound. The forend wood needs to be repaired and the dried-out pad replaced.

Gunter Pfrommer in Virginia is my favorite for just about any type of gun work. What you describe is an easy fix and he’s excellent and reasonable.

Thanks Bill, much appreciated.

Dan May Classic Gunstocks in Oswego, NY just sorted out a mess on my friends 21. His work is good but he's very busy.

Don’t omit our own Brian Dudley in upstate NY

I will add : Gunther is 68 miles from my door and in the last 15 years or so we have developed a friendship that goes to my grave !

I used Gunter several times, always pleased with his work.

Gunter is more than a gunsmith, he’s a gunmaker! He can do it all. I’ve used him on many types of ventures and he is superb. Wood, metal, actions, jointing, relaying ribs, fabricating parts. Such a talent……….

Gunsmithing Ltd, Mitchell Schultz, Southport, CT. Ex-Winchester guy that also does overflow work for Galazan. Has serviced my M21’s for years.

So, Who do you suppose could cut a proper WS1 choke in the
Winchester style with "Terminal Flare" ??

Tom Jay 06-22-2023 05:47 PM

I'd ask Mitchell Schultz @ Gunsmithing Ltd. about adding the terminal flare to make a true WS1 choke. What's the current choke? Is it not already WS1?
