Hey Calvin,
So long as she still occasionally has time for her old dad then consider yourself lucky! If she also hunts and/or shoots with you then life is good. Mark |

Calvin: It just seems like yesterday that they were little girls and then they are off on thier own. My little girl is now 45 and will always be my little girl. Thomas L. Benson Sr.

My little girl turned 50 last December. I was off the coast of South Africa in a hurricane when she was born. She was 3 months old before I got to see her. She's still my little girl.
Best Regards, George |
Indeed the truth-
Just held my now 6 weeks old second grandson Jack Robert O'Scanlon yesterday, and he reached out his tiny fist and grabbed my thumb. Even though his father Sean O'Scanlon is not a hunter or a gun owner (even though his Dad Casey was in my beloved USMC as a 6 month Reserve) he has some great virtues- A Notre Dame grad with season tickets for 4 (I like to see old Touchdown Jesus in South Bend blessing all us Green Micks on a October Saturday--) a 2 handicap golfer, and their oldest, my youngest granddaughter Kathleen Mae O'Scanlon will be three in early April-- being a grandfather is great- I changed my Avatar foto- that's my older granddaughter Sophia Anastasia with me on the deck this recent Feb-- Hopefully they'll all get college educations like I saw that their mothers did-:bigbye::cool::cool::cool:

Well Calvin, you have Fort Hays State, Kansas State and Kansas University not too far, and all excellent schools with scholarships for the achievers. Get her there as a HS sophomore and get her thinking about what could be. Where there is a will there is always a way.

Good deal Calvin,
My little Punkinhead is growing up every day. I've got a picture of her holding two nice flounder when she was 8 yrs old, and an identical picture when she was seventeen, standing in the same boat. (fish look smaller, cause she looks bigger!) Best part is, both days were Fathers Day! Now-a-days she doesn't get much time to fish with the old man,(Full time at Georgia Southern university) but she'll be attending her third Southern SXS this year, shooting her favorite shotgun in the world. (an LC Smith 16 ga. that originally belonged to the father (God rest his soul) of one of the best shooters that Team Parker has ever fielded! Not me obviously!!) Sounds like you'll have enough time to break her in on a twelve or sixteen gauge before the Southern, since she wont be able to shoot her ten gauge in the Challenge events! Believe me, it'll become a family (You and her) tradition that you both will look forward to every year, and one that you wouldn't trade for anything in the world. They all have to grow up...but they don't have to grow away! John:) |
Amen to that Mr.Liles...:)

I'm hoping for fort hays. Because I don't want her to get over an hour away. Never hurts to hope :-) ch

Hey buddy!!!! The only thing you have to remember is keep that little finger out and crooked!!! No matter how old they get they will still grab it when things get tough for them and dad can still reel them in to his lap. You are lucky to have them and enjoy every moment with them. I had three girls and one boy and God decided he needed my two middle daughters more than I and took them to him at 41 and 43. I still have their kids (spoiled rotten) and memorys. The ones left are about to yank that little finger off and I love it. Looking forward to meeting you and Jett this summer sometime. Lee.:bigbye:

Lee, we share a bond we both wish didn't exist: I lost my "little boy" two years ago this July, at age 33. My heart is broken and I suspect it always will be. But I have his little girl, Grace Hadley Yearout, age 7, more like him every day. His light shines through her, and makes going forward worth while. Peace to you.

When my son left for college ten years ago I more closely identified with this old joke:
Do you know why God made little kids so loveable? So you would take care of them. Do you know why God made teenagers so obnoxious? So you wouldn't cry when they moved out.:bigbye: Best, Mike |
To Phil and Lee and all of us who have lost a child, March 8th marked nine years since my dear son Robert passed to the hands of God. A good friend gave me this verse which has always helped set my mind at ease.
Those we have truly loved, We will always love, And that which was deeply felt, We will always feel. Remember, death can take all things save one, Love remains, For love alone is real. Dave |
