Bucket list gun for 2023 is here!
4 Attachment(s)
There are two guns that were on my 2023 bucket list, both Parkers. One will remain nameless until I have it, the other arrived Thursday. The big bore craze took hold of me and I finalized a deal that was begun October-November of 2022. I finally have a 1908 PH 8 bore, 34” and just over 12 lbs!! CPG, twist bbls, solid gun that originally sold in 1908 for $105. I am very happy and thank my buddy Craig for his help in making this happen! Big Boomer events just got another competitor!!

Nice gun. Bring it to the Southern. We plan to have another 8ga get together and 5 stand shoot off on Friday. Shooting an 8 puts a big smile on your face, big fun.

I try to stay away from guns that weigh more than I do.

Way to go Mike,
Welcome to the 8 gauge club, hopefully we can keep growing the 8 gauge group and have 8 gauge awards at all the shoots. We appreciate the event put together for 8 gauges at Rock Mtn, Stan |

I’d like input from all you 8 bore guys. Is the 15 bird event enough or should we make it 25 or 30? If we bump up the target count I’m thinking maybe shooting the event on the course instead of the 5-Stand. Thoughts?

The buckshot close comment reminded me of an article about a bear hunter in I believe from Alaska. He was known to build a log bear trap and had ordered a Parker with instructions to pattern it for "buckshot close". Nothing more to the story but interesting that yours may have been for gators. Charlie, can you add to this discussion since you seem to be one of the most knowledgeable on the big guns?

I must say having all the 8 bore guys together on the 5-Stand does add to the excitement of shooting these big guns that may be lost by each guy shooting individually out on the course? Stan |
I prefer the 5-stand set-up for the reasons Stan states above, everyone shooting together adds to the excitement and camaraderie. We are able to take group pictures and admire all the big shoulder cannons. I think the 5 stand environment is more friendly to new commers. 25 targets would be better than the current 15 in my opinion. Mike we all appreciate your efforts organizing the 8ga shoot.

I think this is probably the most interest in the 8 ga in over a 100 years...its a fun gun but because of it s size and weight it aint for everyone but its awesome....I think like craig and the others 25-30 will be enough...some of you guys take some pictures for the rest of us who can t make it to the shoot....I m anixios to get it on....I would love to try a bear or a gator with a parker 8 ga.....charlie

Another 0 frame 16 most likely.
A John Deere Model B for my son. Another Parker 28, but that is kind of a dream. |
