Guyette & Deeter Auction - Who's coming??

The G & D Auction at St. Michaels MD next Friday 3 FEB preview day and Sat. 4 FEB actual auction sale day has already created a low hum via prospective bidders via e-mail as well as increased 'lurker' background noise on the internet sites.

Friday will offer a nice reception and early preview opportunity; good restaurants both in St. Michaels and Easton MD. Lot to see and do in the bountiful Chesapeake Bay country. (The Maritime Museum in St. M's is not to be missed!). There will be some fabulous guns there.

Who is coming and will be there live for this event?? It will be a great opportunity for a quality mingling of the like-minded. See you there!!

John Dallas 01-28-2023 08:22 PM

Used to go to St. Michael's on the 1960's. Great little town back then. Assume it still is

Randy G Roberts 01-28-2023 09:51 PM

See you there Kevin. I'll be lurking around :)

Craig Larter 01-29-2023 04:37 AM

I was all set to come but I came down with Covid and had to cancel.

Allen Peterson 01-29-2023 05:50 AM

Kevin,

Sent you an email but I'll post here that a few of us are coming down Fri for the preview, having lunch then plan on shooting clays at Pintail Point after. Anyone coming down is welcome. Will post details on Weds or Thurs.

Craig,
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

John Albano 01-29-2023 09:52 AM

Craig, Sorry about the Covid. I wish you well. John

Bummer Craig!! Don't feel like the Lone Ranger - Bro Tom just tested positive for it as well last Thursday. Now in quarantine for 10 days.

CraigThompson 01-29-2023 01:59 PM

CL I was hoping to see you there , sorry to hear you got the crud ! Hope you recover quickly . I’ll be there Friday and Saturday , more of a social thing as I doubt I buy anything .

Stan Hoover 01-29-2023 04:24 PM

Sorry to hear that Craig,

I guess you know those tests are suspect, I don’t want to suggest you put other concerned individuals in jeopardy, but I sure will not mind sitting beside you if you come on down.

Stan

Craig Larter 01-29-2023 05:08 PM

Thanks Stan, I am on the mend, but my biggest concern is the health of other good friends. I will miss ya all, but see ya at Deep River! Craig

Josh Loewensteiner 01-29-2023 07:43 PM

I’ll be here all week. Look forward to seeing you all, and a speedy recovery to Craig.

Joel Hackett 01-30-2023 09:30 AM

I was thinking about going, its only a 15 min drive since I'm local.

keavin nelson 01-30-2023 11:35 AM

Planning on it, Fri & Sat. The diversion to the PinTail coarse sounds interesting if I finish up drooling soon enough on Friday!

Take care Craig, nothing to fool with!

CraigThompson 01-30-2023 04:10 PM

I just canceled my hotel reservation for Friday night . I may however come up got the day Friday but that’s questionable at best at this point .

Sorry to hear that Mr Thompson, what gives:eek:

Hope all is well,
Stan

Loren Tillett 01-30-2023 06:48 PM

I will be there

I will see you there. Coming in Friday afternoon, staying through Sunday. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a delight. And the town of St. Michaels is most enjoyable. I'm hoping to connect with some Parker enthusiasts and pick your brains about a few details.

To much activity recently ! Need to back off some before I go to visit the wife . I’m okay thanks just a little run down.

GunnerGrilli 02-02-2023 06:56 PM

You guys got room at Pintail Point tomorrow?? What time will you be there??

Thanks,

Bobby

Randy G Roberts 02-02-2023 09:13 PM

I made it to St Michael's in time to get to the auction house for an hour or so and take a quick peek at all the goodies. I'm going to have to get serious tomorrow, at least on the guns that I am interested in. There are way too many guns to go over in one afternoon, at least for me. Lots of good stuff. I have already made my first score. Managed to get some pretty good seafood at the Tidewater, thanks Josh! I will see the rest of you fellas tomorrow when you come rolling in, be prepared, lots of goodies.

Bill Murphy 02-03-2023 04:12 AM

Randy, are you hinting that Josh picked up the check for lunch at the Tidewater. Just asking.:corn::corn:

Josh Loewensteiner 02-03-2023 06:53 AM

It was dinner, Bill. I had to run to the airport to pick up my assistant. Sorry to have missed you!

Look forward to seeing you all later today and tomorrow. Safe trip in!

....and while you're all kissin' cousins now, remember these chilling words...

If I would have known Josh was picking up the check for supper I would have made the trip too!! :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Well, I am not able to attend the auction. I will be watching things remotely. There are so many beautiful guns to be seen. I am curious to see how accurate the estimates are on the guns. My hands will be duct taped and tie-wrapped to my chair which, in turn, will be almost across the room for safety's sake. Have a great time everyone and safe travels to All, Best Paul

Bill Murphy 02-03-2023 02:48 PM

Paul, I will be in the same position you are. I have seen the elephant and I will enjoy the memory in front of the computer. I am using the Guyette app which allows you to avoid the high percentages charged by the auction services. Their service is 1% over the buyer's premium.

Craig Larter 02-03-2023 05:06 PM

I have looked over the offerings and only have interest in one item, I entered my bid and plan to observe from my computer. I did consign two items and have my fingers crossed they sell near the average estimate. Good luck to all the bidders and wish I was able to make the live sale.

Garry L Gordon 02-03-2023 05:50 PM

I'll be on the phone bidding on a couple of things, probably one of Craig's guns. It should be fun.

Kevin McCormack 02-03-2023 08:12 PM

Craig L., Paul, Randy, Stan, Josh, Stiener and Bill: as fate would have it, I will not be able to make the sale either. For some unforseen reason I did not receive a catalog, but no matter; I and a few others are intimately familiar with some of the greatest guns in this sale:

Years ago Bill Murphy and I were allowed to display the spectacular BHE 28 gauge in the sale for our "Old Baltimore Show" array of Parker 28 gauge guns. All I can say is that whoever gets it will aquire IMHO the finest example of smallbore Parker Gun craftsmanship extant since the production of the 3 Parker Invincibles.

Bill and a few others have tracked for years the path of Fred Kimble's 10 ga. pigeon gun; now it is on the block and available for ownership, once again a milestone gun in the evolution of the gun, the men, and the sport.

Likewise the A-1 Special SBT, a gem of Parker Gun Collectibles (an estimate 5 built??) has finally been "brought to (Chesapeake) bay" Pun intended!!. Notwithstanding the vagaries of poor handling and storage effects, a rare artifact worth saving!!

How do I get on a website to watch the sale in real time? Doing so will be like waiting in the nursery for the new adoptive parents to arrive to take the "baby" home, being cared for in a different but loving way. What a great opportunity for all!

edgarspencer 02-03-2023 09:11 PM

It is a pretty impressive collection. I wonder if their next auction will feature guns with TWO triggers?

Bill Murphy 02-04-2023 05:20 AM

Kevin, I have a catalog for you. Also two PMs. Mr. Parker's 28 gauge is item number 18.

Bill Murphy 02-04-2023 05:48 AM

How was the cocktail party at the Guyette and Deeter office? Sorry I missed it.

Josh Loewensteiner 02-04-2023 05:51 AM

Cocktails flowed and oysters enjoyed by all. We had a great crowd with lots of camaraderie. Good luck to all today.

Personally I thought it was a fabulous gathering. The hosts were kind enough to have drinks and snacks including some fresh east coast oysters which we all enjoyed,. I was able to meet several members at the gathering that I had not previously met. Afterwards some of us retired to my room for a little show and tell. All in all it was a pretty good day. Thanks to the G&D crew for their hospitality, really nice folks.
