Missed out on one 16/20 combo
I got busy and plain forgot about it. Someone seems to have done ok. Hope it was a member:

I did not bid because I was not sure the 16 GA barrels were Krieghoff.

To bring top dollar, a listing ought to have good pictures and be supported with an accurate and complete description. IMHO, this listing fell a bit short.

The 0076 numbering is not consistent with that I've seen. CSMC is the only other maker I am aware of.

I had my finger on the button to bid but just could not get around what looks like pitting on the chamber flats of the 16 gauge barrels. The weep hole looked kind of large too? Couple that with the "as is no return" and I wasn't taking a chance.
Someone did well or got stuck with a pig. Good pics would have netted at least a grand or more over hammer price IMO. Ryan |
The same seller also had a two barrel 20 gauge set that if memory serves sold for about $4800 if memory serves . https://www.gunbroker.com/item/953573570

It has been reported and discussed right here in this forum that the 16ga. barrel sets that CSMC offered to be fitted to Parker Reproductions were actually produced by Merkel. The 16ga. set depicted in the link that Tom posted above appear to be a Merkel-produced set.

So I was just doing some research and ran across this thread today and got a big kick out of it.
First of all, thank you all who did not bid on this auction and enabled me to win it at virtually my cut-off for a two barrel set that was non-krieghoff aka CSMC barrels. I have been wanting a pair of 16ga barrels, so i can shoot modern ammo, to mate to my 20ga repro SS DT BT that I shoot very well. As we have all seen, the price of any krieghoff barrel sets have gone way, way up. Seller was absolutely terrible but i was able to badgered him into a few pictures and info. Barrels were choked how i wanted and I think I did ok in the end, considering. Life is short so take a chance on something you really want. They fit the gun they shipped with quite well, with the typical dolls-head issues. I will however need to have them ever so slightly adjusted to fit the the gun i want to switch them over to mostly, i believe, do to the dolls head. Anyone have any suggestions on who i should use for that work?? |
