First Time For Me

I do not ever recall seeing a 20ga with 28" barrels choked IC/M.

Guns International #: 102028229

This combination is listed in their brochure

In which brochure is this combination listed, David?

David C Porter 08-12-2022 11:46 AM

It's on the back page of the brochure that list the sporting clays classic, A-1 Special, & B grade. I believe this is the later Brochure;

Sorry, I goofed. It only shows 26" in that combo; not 28".

Me either. It's likely to have been opened (aka: metal ground out of the choke area ). However, there is the possibility that it could have been originally ordered with custom choking. A macro pic of the barrel flats may tell the tale.

I have one that I bought from Robin Hollow. It is a great grouse gun.

Jeff Kuss 08-12-2022 02:09 PM

Opps, mine is an original gun not a repro.

28" IC & MOD is less than rare in a 12 gauge Repro. I don't know about the 20s but I would guess that they are out there too. However, I notice that Mr. McKune did not show us a picture of the choke markings.

David C Porter 08-13-2022 08:28 AM

I asked for a photo of the choke markings. They answered back the chokes markings are Mod, Full. I asked back if the chokes have been opened up, or did they make s mistake in their listing. Haven't heard back from them.

The seller answered my question on the chokes. The chokes have been opened up from Mod, Full, to Imp Cyl, Mod. Too bad they aren't up front with this information & you have to keep asking questions.

Well I guess I still have not seen one. Fun to keep looking though.

Yep, the 20ga. w/28” bbls. factory-choked IC/M as well as the 12ga. w/28” bbls. factory-choked Q1/Q2 are so elusive it gets one to wondering if there’s any in existence.

I have seen a few (less than a handful) of custom factory-choked Repros, but not a single example has surfaced that has been factory-choked as above that I’m aware of . . . so the search continues . . . it’s all about the chase. :)

There are a handfull of 28" IC/Mod 20 and 28 gauge guns out there. I heard that they made small production runs of both before the plant closed. I have owned 3 20s and one 28 gauge choked that way so I know they exist. I wish I had them back now.

Bill Murphy 08-14-2022 08:45 PM

The easiest open choked 28" Repros to find are 12 gauge 28" bored and marked IC&M, and they are not easy to find at all.

The 12's have been showing up pretty often lately. I think there is one on GI now. I bought mine specifically for clays and it is, in my opinion, near ideal. It is choked .006/.012. A wonderful combination.
