Jaquas Road Trip
Since I couldn’t make the trip to Mike’s I’m headed to Jaquas today to check out the gorgeous selection of guns. It’s going to be another wonderful day.:whistle:

How about a report? :corn:

Lots of beautiful Parkers all from the same collection. Fellow passed away never having seen some of the guns he had bought, including the incredible A-1 Special 16. My interest was was in a couple of BHE 20’s that are both beautiful. A 30” gun is priced beyond my reach and a 26” gun is a lovely Bachelder refinish. I prefer 30 inch barrels on my small bores, especially the 20’s as I love to shoot sporting clays with them. There Is an interesting 28 gauge PH upgraded from VH. I was disappointed to see it wasn’t a factor PH as I had planned to take a run at it. There was also a pretty little 410 with a beaver tail that just hit the floor and seemed reasonably priced. All in all a wonderful way to spend a couple hours with a dear Parker friend. BTW. They gratuitously allowed us to handle the A1 Special.

Here are photos from Dan’s trip. This A1 Special 16 gauge was described by a friend as “[t]he most beautiful Parker shotgun I have ever seen.”

Looking at the pics on their website, both BHE 20s appear to have had restoration work? There are a handful of the collection that appear original? Hard to tell looking at pics sometimes. Some are obviously restored, some not so.

That's an accurate observation. There are a signicant amount of guns I looked at while they were still organizing them that have sold. They mentioned that for a while people were calling about specific guns in the collection and buying them in groups.
|
It is my understanding that the proceeds from the sale of these guns is directed to go to children's hospitals.
|
They indicated that the proceeds were going entirely to charity as the collection owner had no heirs. They mentioned 2 different charities.
|
There were a couple of small bore Purdy hammer guns too. One had sleeved barrels and the other apparently re-barreled.

She's come a long way. |
"pick up a little something" ? :corn:

Haha, yes I did Reggie. "Little" being the operative word. A refinished (likely DelGrego) and "like new" VH 28 with 26" barrels. IC/Mod, Ball Grip Stock and DHBP. The Identification and Serialization Book incorrectly listed the gun as a 12 gauge which may be why it was still available. Haven't taken any pictures yet but will later tonight.

Dan, I made that same road trip on May 2nd and was also impressed with the collection. In the Parker group, several long legged small bores. However, like you said, most had been restored and were a little pricey for this “hunter”. I drove down there looking for a 16 ga. Sterlingworth with 30” barrels, and it followed me home.

That sounds like a great gun Jeff. I love the 16's and bought a DHE from Jaqua's a few months ago with 30" barrels. I also had a VHE 28 follow me home this time.
