AH grade 6?
5 Attachment(s)
Looking for some info on a gun I'm looking at purchasing. Price is private, seller is private at this time. Looking to ensure there isn't anything wrong with the gun beyond what I see of a repaired stock.
No pitting or dents in barrel barrels are 32" gauge 10 action opens and locks fine hammers both work as do firing pins stock is cracked and repaired at handle |

Looks like a proper Quality A (Grade 6) top-action hammer gun. If the barrels are sound, what is not to like?

Im curious what size frame ?

i believe it is a 4

That appears to be a nice grade 6 hammer gun. It looks the wood is indeed the worst part, but I think it could be fixed with a hard to see repair by some of the better stock guys. I think it is possible that one of the hammers is a replacement although a period correct one. My guess the right hammer since that is the one that often breaks. The reason I think this is that the engraving is similar but not exact on the two and the checkering on the thumb pads is different shapes. Hardly worth fretting over though. I hope you get it!

Not many ever get a chance to buy a gun like that. They only made 34 AH top lever hammer guns.

Not an AH, but a wonderful gun. An AH would be a hammerless gun. Your new gun, I hope, needs a PGCA letter.

#4 frame higher grade guns were often ordered by competitive shooters to maximize the weight to just come under the 11 pound limit for pigeon guns used in important competitions. Consequently, these "just under 11 pound" guns were often ordered by competitors whose names are recognized by those who study such things. When you get your letter, post that information here for assistance.

My grade 3 #4 frame 32” ten was ordered by DuBray and it tips the scales at about 10.5 lbs.

Correct Jimmy. The surface texture is like a fine stippling. I can’t find anyone who has ever seen another.

Have we seen a picture of the rib on that gun? It sounds like a great special order feature. For whom??

A lot of character in that gun. A number of great craftsmen put some time into that one. I hope you get it. It is a treasure just to own it as it is, a once in a lifetime find to me.
