2022 Hoosier SxS Classic
Time to gear up for the 5TH Annual Hoosier SxS Classic. Last year we had no less than 10 PGCA members present which was great. Hopefully we can coerce a few more out of hiding this year. No guarantee that the course will remain as it is presently but for the time being it is all true pairs. A grouse hunters dream for certain. Info as follows:
5TH ANNUAL HOOSIER SxS CLASSIC SxS SHOOT 08/27/2022 TRI COUNTY COON HUNTERS SPORTING CLAYS HIGHWAY 129, BATESVILLE, IN SHOTGUN START AT 10:00AM -- LUNCH INCLUDED COST FOR 100 BIRDS AND LUNCH --- $55.00 This is a fun shoot with non registered birds, no trophies or prizes. The purpose is simply to bring together some like minded folks who share a common appreciation of the SxS for a fun morning of shooting. Shoot any make, model or gauge that you like. If you have something to sell or show off please bring it along. As most of you know the display has grown over the years and I would encourage you to bring something along. Please RSVP to me at the email address below if you plan on attending so that I may plan accordingly for the number of expected shooters or feel free to give me a call if you should have questions. All shooters will receive a ticket for the door prize drawings. Last year we donations from several generous businesses. I would expect most of them to be back on board again this year. They will be recognized as time nears. Randy Roberts 812-584-1021 randy@hsiagency.com |
Thanks Randy. I may just attend. Too early for an absolute commitment but it does fall close to timing of my yearly Texas dove hunt..

Ole' Mikey is just gearing up for our visit in a couple weeks. Just humor him so he softens up the targets for the big bore course. :)

I'm in for next year!

3.5-4 hours isn't too bad especially with the 2nd day shoot.

Randy, I made arrangements to camp halfway there north of Columbus OH, so I am planning on being there. I live NE Ohio near the PA. line.

LAST CALL
Bringing this to the top one last time. As it stands now we have 58 shooters that have signed up. By my quick count there are 10 PGCA members that plan to attend. We can and will gladly make room for more :corn:

We have now closed the doors on the 5th Annual Hoosier SxS Classic shoot. We had nice weather and a good turnout with some 56 shooters present. The PGCA was well represented with 10 members by my count. Road Warrior awards go to members Kenny Jones from NE Ohio and Jeff Kuss from Valpo IN. Both of these fellas traveled a good ways to attend, most likely over 300 miles for Kenny.
Shooting began almost on time which I attribute to a few shooters that were directionally challenged, no worries as we waited on them. At sign ups shooters were treated with their very own custom made whiskey glass and a fine cigar if they chose to partake. After a shotgun start and completion of the 100 bird course shooters and the boys (actually young men) who help out with the course were fed a pulled pork lunch that included potato salad and baked beans as provided by Neals Chop Shop. Jeff and I had a display of Parkers for everyones viewing pleasure. There was a fair number of long legged 20's, couple of big 10's, a half frame, 3 frame 12, some VR guns, and even an H&H that belonged to a shooter. Several guns were there for sale. I know of one Merkel that was sold which went from 1 member to another. I know who you are and will be getting with you for the buyer/seller fees :) I recall a Parker Repro 28 gauge 2 barrel set, not sure if that sold or not. After the shooting and lunch we drew for the door prizes which consisted of several rounds of clays at local clubs, a variety of mugs and even a Terry Redlin print. From there it was on to cleanup and then time to kick back enjoy an adult beverage. I have tried to post pics that will include the PGCA members who attended. From top to bottom as posted (shooter names L to R) with member names followed by an "M". 1)Russ Roeder-M Chuck Ziegler-M Bill Wooderson Bill Rosier 2)Richard Roemer-M Walt Knaepple Rick Roemer-M Harry Sparks Dennis Cochran 3)Jack Haney Kenny Jones-M Jeff Kuss-M Chuck Drudge-M Randy Roberts-M 4)Dave Wirrig-M Zach Wirrig Dick Dunaway Tim Livingston 5)Todd Bergmayr Skip Wenstrup Gerry Addison-M Doug Schoenung Doc McBride 6)Tim Ortman Patti Beasley Randy Kantner Mike Trolley--Patti, Randy, and Mike were there representing Reel Women-Reel Men of Indianapolis which is in a nutshell an organization promoting the outdoor lifestyle. Their primary focus appears to be on fly fishing. Check out their website if you want to see a bunch of nice fish. I hear their FB page is more up to date with even better pics. The remaining pics are of the display, door prizes, and the beverages afterwards. Thanks to all who attended and all who helped out. Pleasure shooting with you boys, see ya next year ! |
So who won the “Hoosier Daddy” award?? Inquiring minds want to know.
