Nice !

I assume the bear was done in by a 10 gauge Parker . But was it buckshot or punkin balls ?

Jim Wescott 06-13-2022 03:32 AM

One ounce Winchester slug loaded in once fired Federal paper hull trimmed to 2 5/8” pushed by 3 1/4 drams Goex FF black powder and roll crimped. Left barrel of the Space Age Parker (Mike Franzen found, restored, named and graciously sold me this gun) is incredibly accurate. Ten yard shot from a ground blind, double lunged boar went 40 yards. Best bear with the Parker to date tipped the scales at 275. Had some delicious bear backstraps last night.

That’s an awesome pictorial! Congratulations all!

Way to go Jimmy

Is that lady the new bride?

Where were you spring bear hunting?

Jim Wescott 06-13-2022 02:02 PM

The lady will soon be a new bride. She is Lisa Godin, owner and outfitter of North Shore Guide Service in northern New Brunswick. Her fiancé is directly to her right, Terry Smith. We swap hunts. They offer world class bear and moose hunts, Tenth Legion has decent spring and fall turkey. We are blessed with great friends and great Parker hunting adventures. All Parker Damascus and almost all hammerguns. Many of our guns have come from Jim DiSpagno, some from Matt Buckley. I apologize to the PGCA, we are not collectors, we are hunters who love our Parkers.

Dean Romig 06-13-2022 02:06 PM

no apology necessary - you could be using Elsies or Foxes or Lefevers but you chose Parkers, the most reliable, hardest shooting gun made.

I think an article for the Parker Pages is necessary. Just sayin'.

Heck, I’d read that…and I already know the ending. :corn::rotf:

Wow! Great job to all

Mike Franzen 06-23-2022 04:38 PM

Glad to see the Space Age Parker is still getting the job done. Anyone looking for a first class hunting experience should contact Jim. It’s an amazing experience. BTW … that picture of Niles with his turkey looks like it’s big enough to eat him. Glad to see him looking well.
