Double Gun Journal

It just dawned on me that I've not received a DGJ for the first quarter. Has anyone else received theirs?

Thanks.

Dave Noreen 04-27-2022 06:32 PM

I checked the latest issue on my bookshelf, Volume Thirty-Two, Issue 4, Winter 2021. My address label says my subscription expires with Volume 34, Issue 4.

Russ Jackson 04-27-2022 07:04 PM

I just checked mine also ,same as Dave's ! Thanks for the reminder will be watching for it !!! We have a new mail person our Mailman of 40 Plus years just recently retired ,I showed the New Girl what they look like and ask her to Please not bend it and stuff it in the box like it is trash hopefully when /if it arrives she will remember !

Through the grapevine I heard there was a delay or hold up at the printer's. Seems the norm.

Dave Noreen 04-27-2022 07:38 PM

Maybe the printer has had to stoop to getting employees like Bass Pro!! This description of a gun appeared on GI today.

A.H. FOX Model A made in 1906. This is a Philadelphia gun made prior to the Sterling buy out. This was the second attempt by Ansley Fox to produce shotguns and is prior to the addition of extractors. The gun shows wear to the wood and barrel. The barrel has outside pitting near the receiver, but nothing deep and fades farther down the barrel. The wood shows signs of use with moderate marks and dents. As noted in the photos it does have a hairline crack near the tang safety on one side, but the stock is still solid with no play. The shotgun locks up tight and the bores are bright with no signs of internal pitting. 12 Gauge

The pictures show an A.H. Fox Gun Co. A-Grade with serial number 19871 which cards as going to SD&G September 3, 1912.

Mills Morrison 04-27-2022 08:33 PM

Still waiting on mine . . .

Bill Murphy 04-28-2022 07:37 AM

Waiting in Maryland. April 28. Edit. Arrived May 5.

Delivery

Discussion with a neighbor lady who is a purchasing agent for a large printer. Paper shortage and long delivery times. She can’t order until a contract is let. Delivery times are now six months out. Print dates are somewhat shorter.

Phil Yearout 04-28-2022 12:44 PM

Earlier this year I got an email from Sporting Classics saying printer delays were delaying issues and they sent me two issues on line.

Now that’s odd. I have gotten my issues on time, but no on line versions.

Mills Morrison 04-28-2022 01:33 PM

As long as Parker Pages runs on time, I'm cool.

Garry, I was a new subscriber so maybe that's why. I got the Adventure 2022 issue on line and later got the print version. March/April was on line only.

For those of you waiting in anticipation of the Spring DGJ, this was posted by the DGJ Facebook admin today:

"Subscribers will be pleased to hear that the mailing of our bumper Spring issue began on Wednesday so the majority of you will see it very soon, depending on where in the world you are."

Thanks, John. I frequently find myself asking “where in the world am I?”:rotf:

Dean, "Same as it ever was...."

Randy G Roberts 05-06-2022 02:39 PM

Our own "Tool Man" has been at it again, this time his pen writes of Dukes and a DH 20 with his usual flair which I enjoy tremendously. A rather "gritty" article if I may say so myself. Nice job Steve, keep up the good work !

Mike Koneski 05-06-2022 04:47 PM

My copy arrived today.

Garry L Gordon 05-06-2022 05:43 PM

Lo and behold, my copy finally showed up today. Thanks for keeping me posted on the deliver.

Reggie Bishop 05-06-2022 06:24 PM

Nope. Nothing.

Craig Larter 05-06-2022 06:29 PM

Nice article Steve, DH 20ga guns are sweet even the ones with a long history in the field. Nice to see a well used gun that was taken care of, no damage from poor storage or from the lack of normal maintenance.

Dave Noreen 05-06-2022 09:11 PM

The USPS mule hasn't made it to the Washington/Idaho border.

Jack Kuzepski 05-06-2022 09:23 PM

Got mine today; think the mailman finally took up speed reading.

Alfred Greeson 05-08-2022 12:15 AM

The spring edition arrived in Tennessee today.

Dave Noreen 05-09-2022 06:52 PM

The USPS mule got it here today. Finally, 33 years in, an article on the American Arms Co. Whitmore and it is just a bunch of great pictures of a really nice early example. No info on the company, production or variations.
