X Frame lifter?
2 Attachment(s)
Just got my first two Parker’s in my hands. The Lifter model is serial 1301 and has an X stamped on the Frame and barrel. On the barrel it seems the X is over stamped on a V. A little confused since I can’t find any of that in the book or online. The chamber measures .854 which would indicate a 10 gauge. Anyone have any thoughts.
Just guessing here. The Roman numeral X could stand for ten gauge.
I had thought that as well, but the X over the V on the barrel made me reconsider.
As much as I've tried I can't see the "V". Hopefully someone can solve the mystery.
Care to share any more photos? The Damascus patterns look really nice. |

Closer photo. Thought it was a V, but It maybe a second X underneath. Hard to tell.
Unintentional double stamp.
Or an intentional well struck X over a poorly struck X

The PB in the shields on both barrels and the 10 and D on the left barrel is interesting. I for one would like to see pictures of the entire gun including the serial numbers.
The P.B. In the shield is relatively common on Lifters. Can’t speak to the D or the 10.

Nice pictures!
Unfortunately we don't know what the F.9.R. means nor do we know the meaning of the B prefix to the serial number. I love the bulbous ball grip on the early lifters. If you have it re-checkered be sure it is done absolutely period-correct. . . |
The Buttstock is not original to the gun, it appears to have come from another gun and the buttpad is a 1930's parker. the right side locking plate also isn't the correct original. Since there are no records on this one, I'll just have to guess my best on the restoration. Will have a professional do the work.
It looks like there ARE records to support a research letter on your gun. They are almost certainly repair records, but I bet they shed light on the gun's current configuration. Probably a good $40 investment for you
Already bought it. Only record was a repair in 1896. Aside from that, I only have the gun to go by.
…OMG…

I did find 2 more marks that appear to be worn 01 on each barrel forward of the PB shields. Any ideas?
