I’m so excited for the Southern this week I can hardly stand it!

Reggie Bishop 04-17-2022 09:45 PM

I will be the first to ask you to tell us more about the pictured Parker.

Josh Loewensteiner 04-17-2022 09:53 PM

It’s an awesome A1 Special- come check it out Thursday in Sanford along with about 70 other Parkers I’m toting along.

Brian Dudley 04-17-2022 10:11 PM

Game on an A1 special is very different.

Keith Sirmans 04-17-2022 10:54 PM

Lord y’all are gonna make me go

Dean Romig 04-18-2022 12:33 AM

Bring your oxygen apparatus - the air’s pretty thin up around those A1S Parkers.

.

CraigThompson 04-18-2022 12:38 AM

Hmmmm , I’m driving down Tuesday morning and it’s supposed to rain here tommorrow on and off all day I believe . So I loaded all the ammo , folding chairs and cooler in the back of the truck and put twenty shotguns in the back seat of the cab . So all left to do is pack my travel bag tommorrow . Put ice in the cooler Tuesday morning , fill up the tank and maybe hit the drive thru car wash .

Craig Larter 04-18-2022 05:23 AM

Sounds like a target rich environment!!! 70 Parkers that's impressive. I know where I will be Thursday morning along with a throng. Better take numbers LOL! Weather looks perfect in Sanford, I will be leaving western NY with snow predicted. Big fun.

Stan Hoover 04-18-2022 07:03 AM

The weather looks beautiful for Sanford the latter part of this week, maybe a little warm, but no moisture.

I wish we were leaving today, but we'll try to keep our mind busy on work for a few more days.

We're starting down early Thursday morning, unfortunately we have to make a 7 hour drive this year instead of a 2hr flight:(

As Josh said, can't hardly stand the wait!!

Yes thursday morning !

Not much else to do on thursday except the 16 or 20 challenge events . I don't shoot a pump or ML or BP in a SxS .

First time I came down it was just to look and I was able to hitch a ride on a friends plane . From the Louisa VA airport to the little airport beside Deep River was about an hour I think . I know I slept thru most of it

Dan Steingraber 04-18-2022 08:31 AM

Can't wait

I'm ready for the 9.5 hour ride Wednesday. Can't wait to be blown away at my first Southern, meet some folks in person and continue my education.

Andrew Sacco 04-18-2022 10:15 AM

Can't wait to meet you Josh...and your 70 friends : )

Hate I'm going to miss the Southern this year but I'll be representing Parker Bros. at the Georgia State Trap Shoot. Best wishes to the Parker Team and hope for lot's of bling. I know you fellows will make us all proud, you always do.

Good Luck John. Don't take any prisoners.:nono:

Bill Murphy 04-19-2022 11:29 AM

John, is your name on a shoot because you won that shoot last year, or are you a donating sponsor? I have found that "Donating Sponsor" works better for me. Since you won't be at the Southern, I won't have to pack any Fox single barrels.

Bill, good question. Preliminary events are named for the previous year’s State winner.

Mills Morrison 04-19-2022 02:51 PM

Win one for the Gipper

Daryl Corona 04-19-2022 04:06 PM

As long as it's not the "John Davis Memorial prelim" you'll do fine.:rolleyes:

Anyone find any special guns they couldn’t live without? I scoured the tables for several hours and didn’t see anything at all close to my “wish list” guns. There were some very nice guns there, especially on Josh Lo’s table, but nothing I was looking for. Kevin McCormack had a lovely little straight stock Fox 20/32” on display!

I picked up the little Belgium 410 hammer gun from Brian Hornaceck , John Allgood caught me at a weak moment and I bought a Grade 1 10 gauge 3 frame 32” gun with a good bit of condition ( first time I fired the gun was in the hammer challenge). Bought a quite nice little Parker VHE 16 gauge skeet gun (26” , straight grip , SST , beaver tail , checkered butt ). An LOM from Kevin for the skeet gun and two other cases from the Lowensteiner Boutique

Mills Morrison 04-24-2022 09:24 PM

No guns although a bunch of stuff from Galazan and some vintage shotshell boxes from Eric Kramer.

Andrew Sacco 04-24-2022 10:38 PM

I met and re-met some really great Parker folks and had a great time. Just got home after a ten hour, no stops except for gas and wee wee drive. My quest for a 20g Superposed RKLT in the condition I wanted wasn't fulfilled. The sheer number of Parkers blew me away. See many of you I hope at Ernie's and Mike's this year.

I bought a very nice circa 1919 LC Smith special order gun. 12ga 30" engraved like an older A-1 with a fancy stock, fancy capless pistol grip. The gun is very beefy at 8lbs 14oz, built like a #3 frame Parker 12ga or a Super Fox, think duck gun. I sold a Q-3 LCS 10ga 30" to make room for the new gun. I was on the lookout for a nice original 20ga GH damascus or a PH 20ga twist, no luck. Tons of great guns and lots of commerce taking place. The Southern is a must do for anyone interested in vintage SxS's.

Dan Steingraber 04-25-2022 06:27 AM

I bought a beautiful original condition VH 16 from Josh, a lovely GH damascus 12 from Daryl and a 1890 DH 12 Damascus in pretty good shape but needs a little work. Also sold the recently purchased Trojan 16 and bought a 20 NID shooter.

I wish I'd met/been introduced to you . But I kinda get shall we say focused tunnel vision at these things

CraigThompson 04-25-2022 09:05 AM

I actually had a couple things there I would have liked to move , but I don't think I mentioned them and I know for a fact they never saw the light of day in NC .

I was there mid-day Friday for several hours. I think most folks were out shooting! I did speak with a few PGCA members but the Parker tent was basically empty the couple of times I dropped in. I had originally planned to come back on Saturday but the plans kind of changed last minute and I didn't get back. As always it was an enjoyable time despite the fact that I came home empty handed.

Garry L Gordon 04-25-2022 09:54 AM

We were there Thursday. No one in the tent when we checked, and Josh was the only member we spoke with (he had some great guns). There were certainly lots of great guns to look at…and Elaine let me take one home. Scheming how to blood it now. What a great problem.

Well we need pics!

Garry L Gordon 04-25-2022 10:03 AM

Not home yet…

Reggie, I’m sorry I missed you. Next year let’s see if we can rendezvous at Josh’s table.

Mills Morrison 04-25-2022 10:08 AM

Garry and Reggie, sorry I missed both of you, although it is easy to do at that event

Would like to have met you in the flesh as well ! Did meet a couple guys from MI I’d heard of before .

Mills Morrison 04-25-2022 02:28 PM

Someone said there was a 32” GH 16 but I could not find it. Did anyone pick it up? I am more looking for shorter barrels at the moment anyway

Most likely the same gun that was at Louisville and then Tulsa and now Sanford. I have looked at it at all three shows. It went back with the owner once again. I did manage to find a nice Trojan. Made it back home in record time today. Now to get all this stuff organized for the next trip, yikes !

The tent was lacking attendance as most of us were standing in line on the course enduring some lengthy delays. The owner tried a new format that failed. He was very apologetic about it and has stated it will not be used again. Great seeing those of you that I did get a chance to chat with, met some new members also.

Thanks to all who brought guns to display, much appreciated !

Reggie Bishop 04-25-2022 07:32 PM

Mighty fine Randy!

Garry L Gordon 04-25-2022 09:49 PM

Randy, what a treasure you found. It looks like that box has never seen a postal worker.

Brian Hornacek 04-25-2022 10:02 PM

I found one of the 13 made 20 gauge PH twist steel 30” guns listed as being made in the PS. Not a screw has been turned since leaving the factory and in very respectable condition. I also bought a Lefever EE 16 gauge with 28” chain Damascus.
