NY is a joke. Lead hunting ammo ban.

Not an April fools joke, but wish it was. A5728 just passed the Assembly banning the use of lead for hunting on public lands in NY State. I know the sponsor, Debbie Glick, she's a piece of excrement in so many ways they can't be counted. It's safe to say this will pass the Senate and be signed into law. A call to my senator hasn't been answered yet.

And guys wonder why I do as little in NY state as I have to. MD,NY and NJ are truly the Peoples Republic of_______.
	 |

I don't wonder Mike. This state is just awful in so many ways it's indescribable. If I didn't live here I wouldn't step foot here.

We moved to western Florida And are very happy here. However I do miss grouse and geese. Laws in NY are made by legislators who have no idea what life is like north of the city.

Yes, New York is DEFINITELY NOT gun friendly. Yet it seems that a majority who attend Hausmans and the Rock Mountain always book rooms in New York. I don't get it.

Mike might need to put in a car wash also!

I left NJ years ago but still have long time school buds there. Most of them who hunted and fished as we did in our younger years have now bought property in Maine or PA or flat moved out in order to get away from the BS.
I am glad I stayed out here in IL although we have similar problems based in Chicago and Springfield. The libs are always lurking around waiting and yes, the legislature from anywhere north of I 64 are a bunch of duds for the most part.. |

Andy, are there no hunting groups in your state to offer any resistance to this law? I fear that we might have the same fate in Missouri. I love our conservation department, but they would really like to move to non-lead for all hunting. I know that lead can kill birds, but so can power lines, tall buildings, herbicides and any other host of reasons, and we are to banning them. I have not seen any concrete studies that show that upland birds, beyond maybe dove coming from dove fields, are being significantly effected by lead shot. Anyone know of any?

I hesitate to crow about the lack of gun laws here in the Great State, Live Free or Die, of New Hampshire but we really have it good as of now. No waiting periods, and everyone that is allowed to poses a firearm can carry consealed with no permit. Oh, and if you are over 17 years old you do not have to use your seatbelt, or wear a helmet if you are riding a Motorcycle. It is not up the the state to tell you that you have to be safe. And as an aside, a survey came out last year that the seat belt compliance rate in NH was better than in Massachusetts, which ha a seat belt law. Oh, and we do not have a sales or income tax here.

Tom that’s an unfair statement. My comment has nothing to do with “high enough class for me.” Where can that many people stay with hotels and food close enough to drive to after a long day especially if your spouse may want other amenities. I was talking about areas very close to the shooting venues and was tongue in cheek. I can drive to my house in 45 minutes from The Rock. I’m not defending New York. I live here because 30 years ago I moved back, I have a house I built and 100 acres and 20 employees. Leaving is much easier said than done especially with kids in school. Im pretty sure you’re not convincing everyone who goes to these shoots to avoid NY. Just isn’t going to happen because of the proximity.

We have three hotels 20 minutes from us in Tunkhannock. Easy to get to from The Rock and if you drive like me you can get there in under 20 minutes. BWAHAHAHA! Restaurants in Tunkhannock, Montrose and in between. Nothing fancy, just good eats. As for Jeff’s car wash, one in South Montrose, Montrose and Tunkhannock or just find a big puddle!! :rotf::rotf: You guys can grill steak in the pavilion and play cards there too, or in The Grotto by Daryl’s stripper pole!! Just sayin’ for a friend. Free fresh eggs for breakfast too, you just have to cook ‘em up. I’ll take mine fried on rye toast with pepper Jack cheese, venison bacon, sriracha and mayo.

All the above comments are of course more pertinent to Hausmann's than the Rock which is further away from Vestal.

All of the above comments have nothing to do with the lead hunting ammo ban in New York.

I'd brace myself boys, unless there's a drastic turn around in the political atmosphere, I'd say there will be a Federal Lead Ban in the next ten years.

I agree Destry. There will be a change but the world seems to turn by NY, CA, IL etc all the states people leave. PA is an enigma. My son said his poly-sci class is spending 25% of their time trying to figure PA out. It is the most important state for future elections. He said his professor said, “If ever a state could be a model for future rebellion or revolution it is PA it is a true battleground…”.
