2nd Annual Southern RI Parker Shoot – 3/26

Hello Everyone,

We had such a great time last year that I wanted to do this again. This Parker shoot will be on Saturday March 26th at 10AM at Peace Dale Shooting Preserve in South Kingstown, Rhode Island: https://www.pdshootingpreserve.com

We'll do the main sporting clays course and they have 5-stand for later if anyone is interested. There is a picnic area so please feel free to bring lunch/coolers. I would like to give them an estimate of the size of our group so please let me know if you can attend.

It is always so nice to see and meet PGCA members in person. I have a few “new” Parkers to show off to some of you since last year. Hopefully, we will have some nice weather and a fun shoot!

We may just cross the Sound if the weather is nice.

Larry Frey 03-11-2022 08:11 AM

Jay,
Thanks for putting this together again. I plan to attend and will let you know how many will be with me. Thanks, Larry

edgarspencer 03-11-2022 09:16 AM

You know I'll be there.

Donald McQuade 03-11-2022 10:20 AM

Great event, had a lot of fun last year. I will be back and will be dragging along one of my shooting buddies.

Mike Koneski 03-11-2022 11:52 AM

When events such as these are scheduled, please send me the info so I can add it to the schedule of events in the Parker Pages!

allen newell 03-11-2022 01:59 PM

I'll be there if I'm not scheduled to work at the shop

Jay Oliver 03-12-2022 08:24 AM

I am glad everyone is excited to do this again! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate just as well as it did last year.

This seems too be a good time for everyone and it works with the schedule at Peace Dale Shooting preserve. Mike, I will book the same Saturday next year and let you know so you can list it in the upcoming event section in Parker Pages next spring...thanks for that!

Jay Oliver 03-19-2022 07:42 AM

Just a quick reminder on this as it is a week away. Looking forward to another great shoot!

Please let me know if you have any questions or need directions.

allen newell 03-19-2022 08:09 AM

Jay, I'd like to go but our annual sprung sale starts on the 26th and I'm scheduled to work thar day. Maybe next year. Best to all.
Allen

We’ll have to beg off. Was about to make reservations on the Orient PT. Ferry when I was reminded the 26th is tax man day. If the 26th is the date next year, we are in. Good shooting to all.

Hello Everyone,

Just another reminder/update. I forgot to mention golf carts are available if you are interested.

Some good news, I stopped in this morning to check ammo availability. There there are 12 and 20 gauge shells available, which may influence what Parker you bring. I am likely going to shoot my 20 VH with 30" barrels, which is happy with off the shelf 2 3/4" 7/8oz loads.

Please let me know if you have any questions and see you Saturday morning!

Jay Oliver 03-25-2022 03:18 PM

See everyone tomorrow at 10. We should have a great time and the weather looks good.

I had a crazy work week and am really looking forward to seeing members, looking at and talking about Parkers and breaking a few clays...

Here is the original announcement. Please let me know if you have any questions:

I can't believe I am just seeing Jay's thread on this event now, and have other business scheduled for tomorrow.

Jay certainly did a great job putting this event together last year.

It is well-worth attending, even if travel necessitates an overnight stay in the area, which Kathy G. and I did last year. Our lodgings were about five minutes from Peacedale Shooting Preserve.

I really wish I could have seen all the nice shooting irons, only a few weeks till the Southern:rolleyes:

Jay Oliver 03-30-2022 08:35 AM

Hello Everyone,

I am a little late posting a follow-up on this. This shoot on this past Saturday was the highlight of the past 2 weeks for me as work and life have been busier than usual.

We had a good time though I forgot to take any pictures. It was nice to talk Parkers and talk with friends.

I think I posted this late this year. Last year the weather was so nice that in my mind we had the shoot in April not March. I am sorry about that. This is a good weekend for us to do this with Peace Dale Shooting Preserve. Next year this shoot will be on Saturday March 25th 2023 and I look forward to seeing more members.

Dean Romig 03-30-2022 11:05 AM

Did anyone take pictures?

Paging Murph, paging Murph. :dh:

Jay Oliver 03-30-2022 02:08 PM

Dean, It slipped my mind to take pictures. I did shoot my 20 gauge lifter at a handful of stations. It was nice to get that out and breaK a few clays as well as do some show and tell...

Daryl Corona 03-30-2022 05:22 PM

Who all attended Jay?

Jay Oliver 03-30-2022 06:13 PM

Daryl it was a small but fun group. Bob Lyons was there with his son and Larry Frey was there with friends and family.

A few people reached out to me who were planning on attending that had to cancel, which I understand.

bob lyons 03-30-2022 10:14 PM

We did have a great time unfortunately I was able to take a few shots with Jay’s 20 gauge lifter. Now the search is on to find one, my guess is that are difficult if not impossible to find in a high grade like Jay’s.

Brian Dudley 03-31-2022 07:54 AM

I completely missed the discussion about this.

john pulis 03-31-2022 08:21 AM

Sounds like a good time by all. Sorry I could not attend this year; 3/25 is on the calendar for next year. Tax man be damed.
