Turnbull 'Like New' VH restore
5 Attachment(s)
My 'like new' Turnbull restored VH just came today. It took 13 months with the COVID delay. The gun has been in my family since the 1930s. It's a 16 ga on a 1 frame, 28 inch barrels. Turnbull did everything: case colors, replaced buggered screws, refinished stock, blued barrels, recut the engraving and more. It's good for another hundred years and three generations.Attachment 103458

Sounds enticing Bob, post us some pictures!!!!

I second the pictures request!
|
I just edited the post to include pictures — hit return too quick.

I think 13 mos. under the circumstances is a pretty good turnaround time. Nice job, nice gun.

A year for a full restoration is not out of the ordinary. It took Delgrego's a year to fully restore a 16 ga Parker that has been in my family since purchase in the 1920's

I’d love to see some before pics, that looks very nice.

I have a 12 gauge VH that first went to Lefever in about 1973 for stock finishing and a Silver pad, then to many gunsmiths over the next 40 years for floorplate repair, screw replacement, ivory beads and other incidentals. It went to Thierry Duguet for reengraving about fifteen years ago. About five years ago, it went to Doug Turnbull for the finishing touches, reengraving of the serial number and case color. It is now finished and I am finally satisfied. I may still go for a leather cover on the pad. I just found a perfect piece of black leather and have to use it somewhere. I just wish I had taken "before" pictures.

Bill, how about some after pictures?
