Hello I am am new to the forum. I am looking at a Parker GHE with a serial # 216561 Any help would be GREAT Thanks Mike

According to our Serialization Book, it was made with 28" Parker Special Steel barrels and had a pistol grip stock with cap. Double triggers, automatic shell ejectors. It was probably made in 1926. A PGCA letter is unlikely to give you more information than this, considering its date of manufacture is after the end of the order book period. A valuable gun if in good condition.

It is extremely unlikely that the skeet markings on this gun are original. Does the gun have what is known as "Remington repair codes" on the water table of the barrels? You must post pictures of all the markings on the gun for us to give you an opinion on its originality. Where are you located? Maybe someone with some expertise can examine this gun for you.

I can provide pictures of the complete gun but that is all of the markings on the gun

Why am I seeing so many barrels lately with the ejector retaining screw welded, filed and polished to complete invisibility???

Dean thats because it is a ejector gun. The screw to hold the ejectors in is under the dolls head.

Ahah! I learn something new every day and it's only 6:35 a.m.

I have Parkers with ejectors that have the retaining screw - how do we account for those?

Also, I can think of two sets of barrels where I can make out the outline of the screwhead with a magnifying glass.

Could some of these with the screw, or with evidence of the screw being there, have been extractor guns that were converted to ejectors?

I believe the gun is for sale at well known dealer as they are advertising a restored GHE stamped skeet in and skeet out serial number beginning 216. The dealer states the gun "appears to be DelGrego work". I strongly suspect the skeet in and skeet out stampings were added as part of the restoration.

The TPS page 411 quotes, "no gun with a skeet confirguration was found before serial number 232262, made in 1929".
The stamping on the barrels, skeet in and out, don't look like factory standard markings.

The gun appears to be a DelGrego restoration with DelGrego applied skeet in and skeet out stampings.

Bill: Do you think the case colors are DelGrego's work?

Yes.

By the way, The Lovely Linda owns a DHE in the 207,000 range that a famous Texas dealer swore was a factory skeet gun. He refused to give the dissatisfied buyer a refund, offering only to take it in trade on another purchase.

One wonders how a dealer who knows better could perpetrate such shenanigans :shock:
