My other favorite double, 20ga model 21 it weights 6lb 6oz with a NY grouse it got yesterday.

nice 21...charlie

Thanks, for those interested this 21 is a special order Tournament grade 26" cylinder and modified, double triggers, ejectors with splinter forend. Made in 1934. It matches the Winchester letter perfectly and also has cast off ,the only 21 I have with cast, that's not in letter. It was made for a NYC sport shop called J.P. Dannefelser.

Perfectly configured for the uplands. Nice!!

Special gun there James. You'd be shopping in real thin air to find another Tour. grade in that configuration. That's getting light weight for a 21, they're out there with less fat on them but they don't come along often. I had a field grade 20 with 26" barrels once that I recall being 6-2 or 6-3 and sold it once again illustrating my infinite wisdom, duh. Congrats Sir. Nice grouse as well
|
I also have it's twin in a 12ga, 26" cyl & mod double triggers, extractor, first year that comes in at 6lb 14.7oz
|
I had a first year model 21 once also. It was serial number 22. It was a 30 in 12 gauge, double trigger, pistol grip, splinter forend gun that I sold to Scheels. That was back in the day when Matt Richardson was their gun guy. They were going to put it on display in one of their stores. Don't know if they ever did, nor do I know if Matt still works for them. I have not seen him around at any of the shows.

Gorgeous!!

Beautiful M 21, in a very desirable configuration!
|
love those grouse
Must be a good year for "Partridge". I'd love to work my 6 month old standard poodle on those critters.
|
My 20- gauge Skeet model has 2 sets of 28" barrels. Both come in at 6-10
|
James, I've never been tempted by the 21, but that one would make me weak if it came up for sale. Nice weight for carrying on long hunts, some cast off(!), and...(drumroll!), two triggers!!!
Are you sure that's a 21? :rotf: Congratulations on a fine gun and a nice bird taken with it. |

This one appears to be similar to James' Model 21! |
I saw that gun a while back, that's very light for a 28 inch model 21. It's too high and too long lop for me. But for the right guy I'm sure it would work great.

My 16-gauge 21 2-barrel set has a relatively low s/n in the 67xx range. Skeet Grade stamp with independent safety. Both barrel sets are 28-inch and they weigh 6-15 and 7-0. Factory chokes Skeet 1 & 2 and I-Mod & Full. 1-7/16 by 2-1/4 by 14-1/4" over the WRA HRBP. Cody states the original order sheet isn't available but shows the second/tighter barrel set was fitted in December 1944. She's one of my two favorite 16's. :)

James, I also share your fondness for the Model 21. My 20 is a double trigger ejector gun with 26" barrels choked Imp Cyl and Imp Mod weighing 6 lb 2 oz.
|
Karl that's a very lite gun especially with a recoil pad. They are great guns, Frank's 16ga 2 barrel set is a do anything gun.
