James, you're off to a great start to your season. I hope the rest is as good.

Andrew Sacco 09-26-2021 07:34 PM

Well I'm UPSTATE and the grouse season isn't open yet, so you must be UPUPUPSTATE, please pay attention to geography! : ) I won't ask where but have a friend who is up there.

Andy, I have lived in New York most of my life ,have never heard of UPUPUPSTATE ! I do not need a geography lesson. Trust me I know where and when grouse season opens.

Had my GSPs out today for what I thought was just a run. The puppy got into two birds. I couldn't believe it! I have not seen a grouse on my property (SWNYS)in years.

Was a joke

I talked to a friend who has a place in Maine and he was heading out this afternoon. This is something I want to try one day

And all this time, I thought it was just NYC and the Upstate . . .

Pretty much Mills, that was my comments intent. Its' upstate everywhere but that's NORTH COUNTRY to us where grouse is already open. In any event, north of NYC and West of Albany we tend to be more normal (with the exception of Ithaca)

Yes they are,a little too vivid. Done by Lefever I was told. Whole gun restored sometime in the past..

Flushed some hiking this past WE in the high peaks around Cascade and in the Blue Mountain-Indian Lake area. And yes, there is more to New York than NYC or the LT.

years ago I remember someone explaining it (this was in the Finger Lakes) they said - upstate starts one county east and south of where you are

Nobody will ever agree but true upstaters know who the downstaters are. In the meantime not seeing woodcock yet in the Central region.
