Buys/Sells for 2021???

With 3 months to go I've had a great collecting year. Added to the collection, Parker DH 12/34 #3 frame damascus 1 of 1 from Josh, Parker 8ga/34" O grade came from Parker Board of Director Mike McKinney, Parker BH 12/30 bought back the Milo B Richardson gun from Mark Kircher (Long Story), Lefever EE 12/30 near mint from a well known collector, Sterlingworth 12/30" for a bad weather duck gun and a Remy Model 11 circa 1928 near mint.
Sold a Parker Grade 2 10ga very high condition, Fox AE 12/28" near mint, two Super Foxes, a 20ga Sterlingworth and a Parker D 10ga /36" on a #6 frame.
What about you??

Dean Romig 09-13-2021 05:34 PM

Nothing….. so far.

Well, I owned a great BHE 12 GA 3 frame with 32" barrels and 3" chambers for a couple of weeks before a friend just had to have it.

I hope he becomes disenchanted with that one Bob and remembers me but the last time we spoke he seemed to have fallen in love with it. Dang the luck. It went to a good home.

It has been a quality over quantity kind of year so far as well as a year to catch up on projects. The Africa safari took a lot of the budget and was worth every penny and more. I added a VH 28, a later Remington GHE 12 and now an early BH project which should turn out nicely. I think I have finally fixed my Super Fox trigger issue at no small expense. I got my low grade LC Smith hammer gun up to working order. I have culled some rifles and guns I did not need. My G 16 top action has been refreshed, except for the barrels which come next. Those are the highlights . . .

Well lets see !

Picked up what I think is a rather nice DHE 20 30" at Sanford as well as a 32" SC .

At Hausemann's I picked up a Grade 2 top lever 12 32" .

At Koneski's I picked up a Remington 1900 16 26" .

And I'm in the midst of a selling frenzy . Cut out 6-10 rifles about 10 handguns a few shotguns and all of my percussion flint stuff .

And yeah I'm kinda in the market for a few shotguns with 32" barrels

With three months to go, the year is still young for many of us.

Craig Larter 09-14-2021 05:29 PM

Mills your correct plenty of opportunities before 2022, Poulin's and Morphy's in November and Rock Island in December. Fall Southern and VC. Many opportunities to do some Christmas shopping.

My intention for selling stuff now was to have a pocketful of cash for the Fall Southern but several folks have told me don’t expect to see much dealer stuff there

Covid is at fault for me. I didn't have anything else to do while keeping myself and my wife away from people. I started the year with about 0 and wanted shooter guns.... That has changed to:

two GH 32" 12 gauges, one really pretty Damascus barrels and the other a GHE with Vulcan steel an sst and straight stock.

Then there was the 12ga. GH with pretty 28" Damascus barrels PG stock etc.

Then the Lefever EE Damascus 28" gun with great wood and straight stock.

Then the VH 20ga. with 30" barrels.......

Then a 12ga. G grade Lefever with what appear to be original 26" Damascus barrels....

Not in that order....

I lusted after Parker as a kid in the early 60's even though a friend of my Dad's lent me an Ithaca grade 4 gun to shoot. Now, at 75, I am filling my rack with the guns I wish I had.... 16ga. is next..... here go some more retirement $$$$$

This is an interesting thread by the way. I am so glad to be here.

Once you embark down the rabbit hole, it is hard turning around. Another has caught my attention today, but we will see

Garry L Gordon 09-14-2021 08:11 PM

Picked up several guns so far this year: a 16 gauge 4E Smith, a BHE Damascus 20, 16 GHE 0 frame, and a 28 bore MacNaughton round action. I also picked up some guns from the gunsmith, including an AH 16 (see my new album), a Grade 3 10 gauge with 32” Damascus barrels, a G grade 16 gauge hammer gun, and and a Trojan 12 with tight chokes. Alas, no guns left my safes. :crying::banghead:

Bruce, I wish I could figure out a place “between” us for a hunt. I’d love to see some of those guns.

George Davis 09-14-2021 08:22 PM

2021 has been year about changing the "herd". I've sold seven guns with one more on the market (Browning Superposed) already this year and purchased only two. Bought back my octagon barreled 1893 Marlin 38-55, sold to a friend several years ago and regretted the decision almost immediately!! Added Ruger Mini-14 .223 for obvious reasons.
I hope late 2021 or 2022 to add three guns: 1. Mint condition pre-64 Model 70 in 7 MM (located working on the price) 2. Browning 725 Grade III/IV or higher with three barrels 28 gauge with 32 and 28 inch barrels and 410 with 30 barrel 3. Stephen Grant 12 or 16 gauge side-lever with 30 inch barrels.

PS: Could be a fourth if the gentleman storing my mint condition Lefever EE 12 gauge decides to sell. However if this happens one of my 12 gauge Parker will need to find a new address.

Gary: If nothing else perhaps a meet up some where for lunch and BS and gun "show off's". Remember, I cant walk much....

Garry L Gordon 09-15-2021 10:17 AM

Lunch, guns, and BS — sounds like a winning combination. 👍

Mills: I find it interesting that your 26" 16ga gun and my 30" 20ga gun have the same choke configuration. My letter did not specify choke did yours ?

I must admit, I feel this choke combination seems great for several different applications.....

bob lyons 09-16-2021 08:20 PM

Interesting year, in that I was determined to sell off some guns and not add anything. But you know how that goes
First was a Remington era Parker skeet gun with great dimensions for me.
2nd was a model 21 skeet in 20 gauge also with great dimensions.
Model 12 trap model that was to cheap to pass up.
Marlin 35 1950’s with a great burled stock surprising for just a real working gun.
Winchester model 94 in 32 special always wanted one.
Winchester model 88 carbine in collectors condition couldn’t pass it up.
Lastly a nice model 12 16 gauge from phil carr on this site great shooter in very nice condition.

The letter has been ordered as of today. Actually just corresponded with Mary in the last 10 minutes.

I bought a Fox A grade 20 with 30 inch barrels. Best of all I have had a successful (so far) bone marrow transplant and a new immune system is being built up. 2022 looks much better:)

Dean Romig 09-23-2021 08:44 AM

Rich - I am very glad to learn of your success… not the Fox, your health!

Onward and upward my friend!!!

.

Randy G Roberts 09-23-2021 08:55 AM

Good for you Rich. Glad to hear that things are looking up in the health department for you.

Reggie Bishop 09-23-2021 09:43 AM

Yes Rich glad to hear the positive news!

Mills Morrison 09-23-2021 09:45 AM

Didn't know you were ill, but glad to hear you are on the mend. Lots of health scares going around.

Rich Anderson 09-23-2021 10:13 AM

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm not out of the woods but I can see the field:rotf: Chemo treatments are down to twice a month and I can skip October's treatment and spend the month chasing grouse in the U.P.:)

I'll see you up there Rich, my son may come for a few days this year--his first upland trip.
As far as new aquisistions, only the project PH 0 frame 16 with the outstanding wood and Selous plates. Had it with me at the Vintagers, but didnt shoot it, was hoping to have the barrels looked at/measured by John Hosford, but he wasnt there. OK, here is a teaser pic.

Dean Romig 09-24-2021 10:02 AM

I love (covet) that gun Harold!

.

Mills Morrison 09-24-2021 10:07 AM

Some great wood for a PH grade. Should be a lot of fun to carry in the grouse woods

Great news! I hope this means "The Boys" will get lots of time with you this upcoming season. My best to you.

Dave Tercek 09-24-2021 10:42 AM

This spring I bought a very nice William Defibaugh Bedford County percussion rifle , made in about 1885.
Recently, a nice little Ithaca ,grade 3, 20g from Josh last week. I wasn't really looking for one, but it was to pretty to pass up. I can't wait to see it in hand.

allen newell 09-24-2021 02:54 PM

Nothing bought or sold this year thus far but I am thinking about selling a Trojan 20 ga w/26 inch barrels that I had Brad Bachelder do a total restoration some years back.

Rich Anderson 09-24-2021 04:37 PM

Only 5 32 inch 20ga Sterlingworth's?? I know where three of them are:whistle:

Reggie Bishop 09-24-2021 04:44 PM

I think it was supposed to be "only 5 32" 20 with ejectors".....but I have been wrong many times.
