5 Attachment(s)
For those of you who are thinking about attending the Fall Classic, or those of you who have not been there before, the dates are October 14, 15th, 16th, and 17th. Attached are a few pics of the venue. The first pic is the Pavilion. 50 X 100 with rest rooms and kitchen. The rest are of the five stand that was erected in 2017. Both courses now have covered shooting stands.

According to the sign up sheet I have it’s the 14th thru the 17th . But it seems the 14th are just for Parker/Smith events . I wonder if it’s re-enter as much as you want like in Sanford for the challenge stuff ?

Tom Pellegrini 08-08-2021 01:39 PM

Sorry about that Craig. I was looking at the calendar in my phone not a real calendar. I corrected my post. Thank you for the heads up.

CraigThompson 09-17-2021 03:21 AM

Well I’m aware of three others besides myself coming from the Old Dominion . And no one of the three isn’t my little brown dog . She’ll stay home with her older sister and the young lady house sitting for me .

Mills Morrison 09-17-2021 08:13 AM

With luck we’ll be there. We have other stuff going on but hope to still make it.

Mills Morrison 09-20-2021 03:45 PM

Julia just booked a suite at the Quality Inn AND got a golf cart reserved.

CraigThompson 10-01-2021 02:38 PM

All is good with the world !

Got the hotel taken care of a bit back . Today I finally remmembered to call Back Woods and pay for my golf cart

I would not be a happy camper if I had to WALK much less carry all the junk I wanna carry on the cart that I most likely won 't need when on the course .:rotf:

Now all thats left is the drive and testing all the seafood joints

CraigThompson 10-01-2021 02:42 PM

I'm curious do many of the resteraunts there have fresh crawfish ??????

I don't know for sure about the crawfish. I am told though that the River Room is a good bet for dinner.

Mills Morrison 10-01-2021 02:58 PM

There is supposed to be a really good BBQ joint around Hemingway called Scott's, I think. I have never tried that and want to.

Sounds like lunch to me

Mills Morrison 10-01-2021 07:47 PM

That is right. And a good seafood place in Georgetown for dinner. Rick often has pretty good food too, so there will be options

Stan Hillis 10-01-2021 10:26 PM

Rick's food is always great. He is a fine host, in every way.

Looks like I won't be able to get there. My birthday is on the 13th, and the powers that be have decided there will be a birthday celebration here that Saturday. Something was already planned for the previous weekend, too, so I'm outta luck for this year. :crying:

If I could only be in two places at the same time ...........

Bill Murphy 10-02-2021 10:06 AM

Stan, yesterday, October 1, was my birthday. I shot skeet, Chinese trap in the morning, attended a 1000 table gun show in the afternoon, and had fried quail for dinner. You have to know your priorities.

John Dallas 10-02-2021 07:54 PM

Bill - You, I, and Jimmy Carter share a birthday. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I have been to Scott's. The BBQ is good, the place is a little hole in the wall, no seating. I ordered a pork sandwich and it came in a styrofoam container w/ two slices of bread. Big D's is better only open Fri& Sat 11a to 9p. The best bet is Hog Heaven will most likely have their trailer at Backwoods and they have BBQ pork and chicken and other items on the menu.

CraigThompson 10-03-2021 03:08 PM

Contrary to popular belief my top priority at these things isn’t the shooting but rather the EATING  All jokes aside the eating and the experience are just as important to me as the shooting .

I likes me some pulled pork with VIRGINIA style barbecue sauce . But I likes me some chicken with any version barbecue sauce more . My father was stationed at an Air Force base in Savanah sometime back in the mid 50’s . He claimed barbecued beef was nothing unusual down there then . He claimed just about every little mom and pop gas station had a hunk of beef or a piggie on a spit turning in a glass house looking thing . Of course that was before McDonalds

He is right

CraigThompson 10-04-2021 01:17 AM

I'm going to drag atleast one 8 along if anyone wants to get together and shoot them somewhere during this thing !

Bill Murphy 10-04-2021 12:51 PM

I wish I could be there. I haven't seen or greeted Rick for several years. He is a great guy.

Happy Birthday, my buddy, Bill!

You have to know my family .................:rotf:

The DH 10 gauge 3 frame 32" gun in my accumulation came to me with a blued action and a replacement non Parker stock . However the dimensions on this non factory stock seem to fit me better than the EH 3 frame 32" I've been using . So I had a pad installed today and will try it at the Flying Rabbit tommorrow in hopes of taking it to Georgetown next week

Guns a 58,xxx and seems to have had a well used life . Engraving is pretty worn but they me partly due to the blue job . Anyway this one will get a test drive friday . Incidentally barrel extraordinaire Breck Gorman refinished the barrels .

As luck would have it, a birthday has been sprung on us to ruin our plans to attend the Fall Southern. We are resisting it, although my sons might not make it. Julia and I are coming even if people get mad. We had to get some medical stuff behind us and it has resolved well.

Exactly the reason I won't be there. Tough having family who cares so much about me. I don't see what's the big deal, it's not like it's a really special b'day or anything. It's only number 70. :rotf:

You got me by 10 I hit 60 this past july and to be honest I wasn't happy about it !

But then I think back to what my dearly departed mother used to say after under going chemo treatments and being sick to her stomach a day or two after being sick beats the alternative much like having birthdays beats the alternative of no longer having them !

For your B-Day you should have asked to go to the Fall Southern. Just sayin'.

Fall SxS

Anyone attending the Fall SxS see any exhibitors present?
I know it is primarily a shooting event but occasionally an
exhibitor or more will be there.
Thanks! 😎

No exhibitors but plenty to see on tail gates. I was told 65 shooters showed up. Small crowd but plenty of good shooting and good visits with a bunch of folks

Parker won the shoot off by 1 point

JAMES HALL 10-17-2021 06:07 PM

The hammer gun competition took place this morning with a great presentation of targets. The event ended in a tie. The tie was shoot off between the two top shooters from each team. Chris Cox represented LC Smith and Dr. John Truitt represented Parker. When the dust settles Parker was victorious

Stan Hillis 10-17-2021 06:59 PM

You go, John. Unusual to see you not in black pants!

Sorry I missed it (again). Used to really enjoy the competition with John.

Thanks for the reports.

So, is John back in the game???

Thursday we didn’t have enough folks for the 16 and 20 challenges to field a five man team

Deja Vu all over again! I know the feeling.:crying:

Mills Morrison 10-18-2021 09:48 AM

LC Smith might not have won, but they came so close despite being outgunned big time. They only had six shooters for the main challenge so all six had to shoot against Parker's top 6. To me, their performance with that handicap is more impressive than Parker's win. Both being quite impressive, I might add

CraigThompson 10-18-2021 08:33 PM

I hope to do three of these things in 2022 . Sanford , Koneski’s and this place again . This year I arrived Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Pellegrini and I shot a practice round , Thursday I shot seven rounds of five stand , Friday I shot six events , Saturday I shot three events and Sunday I shot the main for a total of 840 targets . It’s been a good many years since I shot that many targets in a five day stretch . Nights over done it , but what the heck you only go around once

Stan Hillis 10-18-2021 09:43 PM

Is my old friend John Michael Morris still helping Rick? Haven't had the opportunity to see him in several years. My loss, not necessarily his.

Dunno about that gentleman but Rick has several trappers (young ladies) that brighten up tired eyes
