My 1st Shotgun

Hello,
I'm new to the group and to shotguns. I picked up a shotgun at a flea market Sunday was told it is a Parker Brothers. What kind of pictures can I send out here to maybe guide me to see if it is a Parker? It's a double hammer style, how can I remove the barrel so I can get good pictures of the numbers that are on the flat area when the barrel is opened? Sorry like I said I'm a virgin on shotguns. I also see a set of numbers on the barrel.
Thanks,
John

All I can get was one pic to show?

Bob Jurewicz 06-07-2021 06:57 PM

It does not appear to be a "Parker Bros"

You have been lied to someone put a Parker Brothers buttplate on a non Parker Brothers gun

John McGlynn 06-07-2021 07:19 PM

Well this is the kind of info I'm looking for, so is Parker at one time Parker Brother or are the different companies, does any of the numbers of the pictures help identify the shotgun?

Steve Huffman 06-07-2021 07:21 PM

Your gun was made in Belgium not anything to do with Parker Bros. in the USA. Sorry

For your own safety, and that of those around you, please do not shoot this gun until the barrels have been checked by a qualified gunsmith and deemed safe to shoot. Barrel wall thickness and the severity of any pitting in the barrels are the two most important factors in determining this.
Even if safe to shoot make sure to use 2 1/2 inch low pressure loads such as those made by RST since your gun probably started life with 2 5/8 in. chambers.
