8ga shooters at the Southern
 

8ga Parker owners-
Let me know if your interested in a show, tell and shoot at the Southern on the 5 stand open for practice Friday morning. Meet at the Parker tent about 9:00am and after introductions we could walk over to the 5 stand and shoot as a group. If you have an 8ga Parker but no ammo I can help out, PM me. Should be BIG FUN! Should we include LC Smith 8ga shooters in the spirit of the event?

I will be there and would love to try one...though then I might "need" one. An 8 has been on my list, but I have never actually seen one in person.

Good idea. I'll be there to watch and help carry shells. For $10 I can handle up to 8 on one trip, 9 if my knees are alright and the humidity is down.:)

I think it would be interesting to see more, I wouldn't mind seeing a Lefever myself.

Charlie I was thinking the other day when I read about the 8 gauges I automatically think of the English wildfowlers but I believe Parker Bros probably built more 8 gauges than anyone else .

I seen a old auction(2005) listing where a Lefever 8 gauge sold for 4k , I wish those prices were still similar today haha .

Do you have the 8 gauge Lefever that if I remmember correctly was upgraded to an I think it was called Olympus ? Might there be a restocked A-1 Special in your booth as well ????

I’d like to see the Colt 8 that was presented to Grover Cleveland . That one might be in Chantilly at the NRA museum .

I too think maybe parker built the most 8 ga s lc smith built about 50 something 8 s now lefever built very few but I don't know the numbers on it...several single barrels were built by davenport but I m not sure how many...charlie

parker built just a little over 400 8 ga s...charlie

This is going to be the highlight of my weekend! I will bring my Lefever 8 in addition to my Parkers. No response yet from LCS or Lefever owners.

Looks like a small group of 5-6 shooters. I decided to leave the Lefever home, but I will have two Parkers and extra shells if you would like to shoot a round with a Parker 8. Meet at the Parker tent 9:00am Friday.

My hammerless won’t arrive until Friday afternoon/evening so I’ll only have my hammer gun Friday morning .

I was also contemplating shooting my 8 gauge in the qualifying rounds, didn’t know if 8 gauges were permitted?

I’m already there and Brutus is in the pile I brought . Breck is bringing Brutus II back to me Friday afternoon so both of mine will be here . I plan to shoot Friday morning as planned unless I’m told I can’t .

I know it has been done in the past.

wish I could come join you folks in the 8 ga shoot but not possible...but I will be there in the spirit watching ever body...hope more than a few show up for this event...this is truly a rare event for how many 8 ga shoots you ever heard of only a handful that I ve come across....good luck ever body....charlie

Not sure if a video will work or is permitted? This gentleman (Matt Barkee) is a friend who I coaxed into shooting a round at the 5 stand with my 8, he commented that is something he’ll remember forever:cool:

I shot the qualifying round with my 8 and it was a real charge.

Perhaps an informal 8 gauge thing oughtta be carried over to Hausemanns and maybe even Koneski's !

I for one wouldn't mind doing it !

I've only had a 8 gauge for a week and I already find myself wanting another one. If only I could stop buying 10 gauges lol.

Mike actually offers a 15 target 8 gauge competition, we also could definitely have an informal get together again at Hausmann’s I believe.

Hopefully Craig Larter will be able to join us at both of these upcoming shoots?

A group picture is a great idea. Maybe next year. Hausman's would be good, but I am not going to be able to bring my 8 to that event.
