8ga shooters at the Southern

8ga Parker owners-
Let me know if your interested in a show, tell and shoot at the Southern on the 5 stand open for practice Friday morning. Meet at the Parker tent about 9:00am and after introductions we could walk over to the 5 stand and shoot as a group. If you have an 8ga Parker but no ammo I can help out, PM me. Should be BIG FUN! Craig Larter

Stan Hoover 04-12-2021 11:38 AM

Craig,
I think this is a great idea, please count me in.

I'll have both of my boat anchors there so I'm in .

But man 9 AM is EARLY :rotf:

Mills Morrison 04-12-2021 01:09 PM

I am in!

Craig Larter 04-12-2021 04:55 PM

Should we include LC Smith 8ga shooters in the spirit of the event?

Jay Oliver 04-12-2021 06:18 PM

I will be there and would love to try one...though then I might "need" one. An 8 has been on my list, but I have never actually seen one in person.

Craig, The more the merrier. We could post on the Smith sight. Jim

Mills Morrison 04-12-2021 07:24 PM

What Jimmy said. Also seeing that LC Smith 8 gauges are more rare. Heck, why not invite Lefever too?

Good idea. I'll be there to watch and help carry shells. For $10 I can handle up to 8 on one trip, 9 if my knees are alright and the humidity is down.:)

Stan Hoover 04-12-2021 09:24 PM

I think it would be interesting to see more, I wouldn't mind seeing a Lefever myself.

Josh Loewensteiner 04-12-2021 09:37 PM

Stan - visit my booth. I’ll have something very special in the Lefever line -

charlie cleveland 04-12-2021 10:01 PM

wish I could be there to see a lc smith and maybe a lefever 8 ga...what a hoot this will be...charlie

Charlie I was thinking the other day when I read about the 8 gauges I automatically think of the English wildfowlers but I believe Parker Bros probably built more 8 gauges than anyone else .

I seen a old auction(2005) listing where a Lefever 8 gauge sold for 4k , I wish those prices were still similar today haha .

Do you have the 8 gauge Lefever that if I remmember correctly was upgraded to an I think it was called Olympus ? Might there be a restocked A-1 Special in your booth as well ????

I’d like to see the Colt 8 that was presented to Grover Cleveland . That one might be in Chantilly at the NRA museum .

Craig Larter 04-13-2021 05:45 AM

OK I will post a notice on the LC Smith and Lefever forums. Craig

charlie cleveland 04-13-2021 01:41 PM

charlie cleveland 04-13-2021 01:42 PM

Craig Larter 04-13-2021 04:43 PM

This is going to be the highlight of my weekend! I will bring my Lefever 8 in addition to my Parkers. No response yet from LCS or Lefever owners.

Craig Larter 04-19-2021 01:45 PM

Looks like a small group of 5-6 shooters. I decided to leave the Lefever home, but I will have two Parkers and extra shells if you would like to shoot a round with a Parker 8. Meet at the Parker tent 9:00am Friday.

My hammerless won’t arrive until Friday afternoon/evening so I’ll only have my hammer gun Friday morning .

Craig Larter 04-20-2021 08:22 AM

Sorry but I will now be unable to attend, sorry for the cancellation. Craig

Mills Morrison 04-20-2021 10:27 AM

I might shoot mine in the qualifying rounds if anyone wants to join me. Same time Friday morning?

I was also contemplating shooting my 8 gauge in the qualifying rounds, didn’t know if 8 gauges were permitted?

Stan Hoover

CraigThompson 04-20-2021 04:56 PM

I’m already there and Brutus is in the pile I brought . Breck is bringing Brutus II back to me Friday afternoon so both of mine will be here . I plan to shoot Friday morning as planned unless I’m told I can’t .

Mills Morrison 04-20-2021 04:59 PM

I know it has been done in the past.

charlie cleveland 04-20-2021 07:53 PM

I really enjoyed meeting the 8 gauge fans, I wish I would have thought to take a group picture.

Stan Hoover 04-26-2021 09:36 PM

A video if it loads?

Not sure if a video will work or is permitted? This gentleman (Matt Barkee) is a friend who I coaxed into shooting a round at the 5 stand with my 8, he commented that is something he’ll remember forever:cool:

Mills Morrison 04-27-2021 09:52 AM

I shot the qualifying round with my 8 and it was a real charge.

charlie cleveland 04-27-2021 11:45 AM

looks like ya ll were having some fun there....I m always very interested with any thing going on with the 8 ga...thanks for the pictures....charlie

CraigThompson 04-27-2021 12:15 PM

Perhaps an informal 8 gauge thing oughtta be carried over to Hausemanns and maybe even Koneski's !

I for one wouldn't mind doing it !

Milton C Starr 04-27-2021 12:35 PM

I've only had a 8 gauge for a week and I already find myself wanting another one. If only I could stop buying 10 gauges lol.

Stan Hoover 04-27-2021 12:35 PM

Rock Mountain

Craig,

Mike actually offers a 15 target 8 gauge competition, we also could definitely have an informal get together again at Hausmann’s I believe.

Hopefully Craig Larter will be able to join us at both of these upcoming shoots?

Thats right I had forgotten !

Well I'll drag one or both along to Hausemann's as well

I suspect by then snow won't be an issue anylonger :rotf:

Mills Morrison 04-27-2021 01:14 PM

A group picture is a great idea. Maybe next year. Hausman's would be good, but I am not going to be able to bring my 8 to that event.
