Forearm wood?

I picked up the forearm wood shown in this Ebay listing in a lot with two other forearms--both for Ithaca Knick SBTs. I originally thought this forearm wood might be for an Ithaca Flues or Victory grade, but my research is disproving that theory.

I've been through every photo in Frank Conley's book, and I've been scouring the internet, and I now think the wood I have might be from a Parker SBT.

Can anyone here help me out with any confirmation or refutation?

Any and all advice most appreciated.

Dean Romig 03-14-2021 06:04 PM

Nope, it's not from or for a Parker SBT.

I agree with Dean. Not a Parker SBT forearm.

Steve McCabe 03-14-2021 07:22 PM

Thank you, gentlemen; I'm disappointed to hear this but will continue my search.

Single traps are graded guns with checkering, regardless of brand. This is not a factory original forearm for any single trap gun.

Brian Dudley 03-14-2021 09:05 PM

It is not American. And may not even be original to whatever gun it came from. It may be for a European gun, German.

Gentlemen, do you not pay attention to info in the Parker Pages??? It is not a forearm, that is a body part. You are referring to a FORE-END!!! Do not force me to bring disciplinary action against you all!!!!!!! :rotf::rotf::shock::cuss::banghead:

I actually thought about the forearm vs. fore-end "get the skinny" when I typed my response. I should have gone back an double checked it. My bad.

Dean Romig 03-16-2021 06:40 AM

I have always just shortened it to forend regardless of what my ‘electronic device’ tells me.

I have also always been a student of the origination of words. I wonder if “forend” derived from fore-end may have derived from ‘the piece of the gun upon which your ‘fore hand’ is placed, thence the contraction ‘fore ‘and’ thence ‘fore-end’? The hyphenated word ‘fore-end’ makes much less sense to me, the ‘end’ part of it being almost meaningless as it might relate to a part of a gun...

Hey Sammy - what are your thoughts?

Nomenclature, if you want to understand the essence of communication have grandchildren and listen to the things they come up with. My granddaughter at 4 would call that the wood thingy you put your hand on to hold it and and aim it. Would she be wrong, would she have communicated her meaning? If she was wrong you tell her i am not going to.

Mike Koneski 03-16-2021 02:44 PM

But she is 4 and doesn’t know any better. :) These guys are supposed to be professionals!! :rotf: My pet peeve is when guys interchange clip for magazine!! :cuss::banghead:

Parker used the word fore-end in their catalogs however I've also seen it spelled forend in the stock books.

Brian Dudley 03-16-2021 04:02 PM

Or “tip”

Mike Franzen 03-18-2021 12:05 AM

Mike could you please ask Sam if “Thence” is a word such as used by Dean.
