Upland gun company
Here is an interesting new offering.
www.uplandguncompany.com |
interesting - it says Italian made, I would have expected Turkey
|
Just another in the never-ending series of businesses marketing Spanish/Belgian/Italian/Turkish guns to us here in North America.
|
I believe that the owner of Pine Ridge Grouse Camp may be involved with this new company. Tough market to try and breech in todays day and age. Quite a bit of competition in the 2K - 4K side by side new gun market lately.
|
Noticed they have both a Wyoming and Michigan addresses?
Nice looking but would definitely want to see one in person before I ordered |

I had a survey emailed to me from Project Upland a while ago.
https://projectupland.com/ Asking what one would be looking for in a ideal upland gun. I wonder if this is related to that. |
Being from Sheridan Wyoming I have a buddy who is going to stop by the Sheridan address and see what’s there. His grandfather was a will known custom rifle builder so if they have any guns there to look at he can give them the once over and see what they are.

Looks like the MN business address is Pineridge while the WY corporate address is just a shell address (more friendly taxes and gun laws I suppose). Just a guess.
A startup importer company for an unknown Italian gunmaker will be a challenging business model. But I'm an old gun kind of shooter so I don't have a good pulse on the new gun market. |
I think you guys are being a little harsh. From what I can see, a group of entrepreneur sxs enthusiasts already in the shooting business, have put together a pretty good business model. You can build your gun on line, lots of options, then pay a 50% deposit and it arrives in 3-4 months. Not bad at all. The maker, RFM, has been in business for over 60 years and seems to make a quality product. It also appears the son is married to one of the Fausti sisters. This has caused quite a stir on the 16ga forum. I plan to order one in 16 gauge. I was chatting with the gentleman in MN online who offered to have me come by and shoot one. It’s a bit far from Alabama but I appreciated the offer. For the options I selected for my ideal bird gun, it came to $3500. Not bad at all for a new Italian sxs built to my specifications. This is exactly the type business we should be encouraging to keep the sxs community growing. I hope they succeed.

There is a podcast dedicated to the CZ project if you look up the Project Upland podcast page. |
Agree Joe, will build one online tomorrow just for curiosity sake. Will be a 20 ga, already have about a dozen 16s. It will have st grip, 30 in barrels.
|
It’s hard to stop once you begin trying different options. I will likely order a 16 ga, 29 in barrels, straight grip, single trigger and interchangeable chokes.
|
To lump an Italian company with 60 years gunmaking experience in with the Spanish, Belgians and Turks is to ignore the individual company's abilities, IMO. That said, I think they're a bit "optimistic" in their pricing. I see nothing there that cannot be bested in price by a FAIR Italian gun, one of which I have hunted for three years, and another that I've hunted, and shot in competition, for probably 10 years.

I’d be interested to see one in person. Seems like you can configure a pretty nice gun for the price of a Parker Reproduction.
|
Also would be interested to see an example of grade 3 wood.
|
The guns look interesting but I see no where you can order your stock dimensions. Why would you order a custom shotgun not knowing the dimensions or having to take one size fits all dimensions.

The guns look interesting. I'd be interested in getting a 20 ga. But am a bit hesitant. If a few guys here actually ordered one I'd be a little bit more inclined to do so.
That being said, there's a couple of English guns i'm looking at that would blow my gun fund. |
I wish this was a better website. The pictures of the guns are terrible. I tried building one in 28 gauge and could not get a good picture of the gun to see what it might look like. They need to get a much better site IMO.
