February 1, 2021. My wife saw this and said it looks like not much has changed! Hope you guys down south are enjoying some warmer weather!

Supposed to maybe reach 60 today here, then 70's later this week. It has been in the 40's at night. Brrr...!!

Dean Romig 02-01-2021 11:26 AM

I'm jealous Scott! At least the perch are really good eating this time of year...

Andrew Sacco 02-01-2021 11:43 AM

Ice fishing Ken? Where? Haven't eaten a perch in years but damn delicious. We're in for 18" of snow or thereabouts down here, more in the northern PA areas.

Ken Waite III 02-01-2021 12:15 PM

Bays off of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence. Sometimes Oneida Lake when staying closer to home. We're in for 9" tonight.

we will see what this storm brings, so far - less than an inch of fluff

I haven't run the snow blower yet this season here in the western finger lakes

I think I have handled the snow shovel twice just to push a couple inches aside so the sun could dry the drive.

the Maple Tree Inn is going to open in two weeks - although I don't understand how all you can eat pancakes will work with take out :rotf: - that is my first sign of spring

ask me again in March - that seems to be when we get surprises :duck:

So true especially in New England. Sometimes it seems Winter never ends, skips Spring entirely, and suddenly you're in Summer by Memorial Day.

it s 30 degrees here today with wind gusts up to 25 mph...just staying inside...berr....was really nice yesterday...got some flower bushes in full bloom and thebutter cups blooming....but the cold weather is still hanging around....charlie

WE missed the snow by about 50 miles or so. Its 33 deg with wind gusts over 25 and has been blowing all night. I am glad we missed the snow but just to bitch, this wind is really depressing...... We should be up to the mid 40's by tomorrow. Gotta love Southernmost IL.

i always quote Patrick McManus

God invented March in case eternity proved to be too short

Well it's damn tough down here(Florida)our 3rd cool front this season.Gonna be in the 40's tonight with a wind.Had to put a jacket on last two mornings. It's almost 70 right now(3pm).Darn aggravating having to put coat on and take it off an hour later.
Funny thing is we wait for this all year. The weather girl has us froze to death and when summer gets here(next week)all they do is complain.

scott kittredge 02-04-2021 06:34 PM

This past sun morning it was -2 on the way into work. 37 today.

Well where I am summer is great it was 90 degrees one day last year rest 80's about warm as it gets, But watch out for winter, I am half way down from you northern guys but get blasted with high winds here on the mountain 40-50 not uncommon, and it seems as though this area makes its on weather sometimes, but I like the solitude, but as I get older its harder to keep it all up! Got the equipment! just the old bodys not what it use to be, just do it slower, gary

I love the snow. It's snowing here now in Pawling, NY. I have a friend who plows me out and does the walkways gratis, so I don’t have to bother with it. I like to snowmobile and check on the deer herd. The fields are covered with snow but they still are hitting the sorghum and timothy fields. There are dig marks all over the timothy fields where they dig to reach it.

We generally don’t have any winter kills on the property but if we continue to get snow and it piles up without any thawing, we could have a problem. I hope not. I hate the thought of deer starving to death. I’ve seen it and its not a good memory. You can generally tell if a deer is starving since their hair stands straight out giving them a fuzzy appearance. Also, if you cut into their bones, the marrow will be red and not white.

Although I love to see a snowfall, I’m hoping we get a thaw soon so that the snow doesn’t continue to pile up.
