Info needed PH grade
I came across a PH grade sn
199283 As for condition not known Would this be a twist steel gun ? Not much info on a ph grade If anyone would like shed some light please do. Thanks |
This is a 12ga with 26in Parker Steel Barrels with a capped stock Sounds intresting
|
Don ,With those Parkers you been getting you should join the PGCA and order some letters on your guns. I see you have been a forum associate since 2015 . Might pay off to buy a serialization book too a lot of good info in it .

I’m waiting for more info this may possibly be a skeet gun |
Small bit of new info 1 frame 3 lb bbl
A crude choke test with a dime reveals it can have a dime inserted from the muzzle end |
What is the barrel length ? Its a 12 ga maybe open chokes and a letter might tell you how it was ordered
|
The bbl is 26”

No, that serial number is way too low for a Skeet gun. Skeet wasn't even named until 1926 and Parker didn't even reference Skeet chokes until 1932. . |
Serialization Book, 29.95.What is the problem?

My speculation about it been used for skeet is because the fellow that owned it had a model 21 skeet gun . More speculation he cut the bbl’s and shot skeet with it . |

Reread the top posts. It’s a 1 frame capped pg and 26” Parker steel bbls
|
Ok thanks everyone I will do my research.
|
Serialization book says only 1000 PP guns produced. If the chokes are both open (and the dime means virtually nothing) it might well work as a skeet gun for you. Probably not trap, and not clays. This gun would normally have a somewhat higher value than a comparable gun with twist barrels. Good luck!

Cool..... my 9 lb. 10 ga. Lifter has uncut 30” Damascus barrels and I have shot a LOT of Skeet with it, but that doesn’t make it a Skeet gun... by any means.

Mike - please explain what a "PP gun" is. I'm at a loss... . |

Ok I understand what you mean. Skeet can be shot with any barrel length or choke combination. Some folks do pretty well at Skeet with tight chokes, some not so well.
But the fact that somebody might have shot Skeet with it doesn’t make it a Skeet gun. . |
I know it’s not a skeet gun it is choked perfectly for field use .
It’ has a interesting bbl configuration for that time period. My 1928 vhe is 30” .735 bore and .690 at the muzzle very tight |
Can you post some pictures?

Had a very enjoyable fall hunting birds with the PH grade gun
A detailed choke measurment Right bbl light mod Left bbl imp mod Worked well on sharp tailed grouse and shot some ducks with 1 1/8 oz bismuth loads It was my go to gun this fall |
Don, you originally described reversed chokes in your P grade. Are they actually reversed? If so, the left barrel may have been bored out a bit. What bore micrometer are you using. The reason I ask is that .045 is an unusual choke measurement for a Parker.
