I need to do this too...

OK I have to sound ignorant but do most folks on here have a separate rider for firearms? My collection is modest and I know there's some coverage under my home owners but now I wonder.

Build a stronger vault and take your guns into your hotel room when you travel. Eat in places where you can watch your car from your table. I don't have a solution for big displays at gun shows. I guess in that case, insurance is a requirement. However, I would prefer to buy a policy that was only in effect when I am at a show, for a lot less money. Insurance is not cheap for someone with an extensive collection. What is the cost per thousand from various companies? I haven't heard that mentioned for some time.

If you prefer to display your guns in your man cave or take them hunting or clays shooting then insurance is the only option my opinion. Plus insurance covers when you ship or are at an event outside of your home. If you prefer to keep your guns locked up in a safe and don't carry them outside the house then a guns safe makes sense. Just my opinion but why have beautiful guns locked up where you can't see them or use them. If young people visit you in which case trigger locks and ammo stored in a secure location is the best choice in my opinion.

I have both. Two upright Browning safes plus a policy from Eastern
Eastern’s firearms covers any of your insured guns no matter where they are and what I’m legally doing with them. I think my policy is $225/yr. . |
The "Gun and Trophy" website under "testimonials" they mention a testimonial from February of 2018, and not another. They also mention an initial premium of 14 cents per $100. If I am doing my calculations correctly, that is way less than the typical premiums they state. It is nothing like their typical premiums by far. They don't give a hint what 14 cents per $100 will buy. My suspicion is that 14 cents per hundred won't buy much of anything. Before I can trust these people, I would like to know what their minimum coverage actually covers.

Can only speak from personal experience, a rider on my homeowners was astromically more expensive with less coverage than what I currently have with Eastern. As Dean mentions, as long as I am legally allowed. The only thing they won't cover is if you leave your car unlocked. I also like their optics and ammunition coverage options.
It only takes a few minutes to save...., what I think that tag line is already taken :rotf: |
Dean, what is the value of the guns you insure for $225.00 a year? I am trying to find a carrier.

PM sent Bill -
I would advise everybody to call Eastern and get their own quote and rates. . |
I've used Eastern for a number of years, knock on wood that there have been no losses or claims. My biggest fear is fire and I have fires rated safes. I just received this years bill and it was for $500. This is $3.00 per thou. Cheap piece of mind for coverage for all the toys that go bang.

The phone number was working yesterday. Bobby
|
I talked to them Tuesday morning.
Rates vary. Rates are different if you are insuring a rotating collection of guns each valued under $10,000.00 or guns valued each over $10,000.00 , or a combination of both. |

Do we get to read the "restrictive language" when we buy the policy, or the day after we make a claim? Sorry about that. Like any other insurance, home, car, or whatever, we are reluctant to make a claim. I hope to never have to make a claim on a gun policy.

I made a claim with Eastern Gun Insurance and it went seamlessly. I was very pleased.
