New 16 VH
5 Attachment(s)
My goal here was a "field gun." I wanted an honest gun with honest wear but good mechanical condition that didn't break the bank. 28" barrels and choked Cyl/IC should make a dandy grouse gun. So here she is warts and all. This would be my first "original" Parker and I have to say I've never bought a gun in this condition but the condition actually endear me to it more. Can't wait to give her a whirl.

Here's a couple more pics. As I said I planned on getting one gun yesterday, or none if nothing spoke to me, but I got two. Gun #2 up shortly, working on photos now.

Andy, I'm not good at scrutinizing photos like some of the folks on the forum, but that looks to be a great gun in really nice condition. Have fun with it. I'd be honored to be the caretaker of a gun like that.

Warts?... what warts? She's a beauty!
You mean those little dings in the wood and some loss of color? Come on... really? That just means you've got a fine hunting companion that's been there and done that and it can take care of itself. I think you need to put a few of your own little "warts" on her and that's going to take a lot of time and honest use. . |

congratulations andy,
"warts" and all, I would be proud to own and hunt with a gun like that. |
Damn nice, my first Parker was a 1 frame 28" VH . Looking forward to seeing your new Trojan,
|
Very nice!! Should make an awesome Grouse, Quail and skeet gun.

Very nice! From the photos, clean screws, stock looks sound with no pins or cracks, 28" 16 ga. on a #1frame, metal looks to be in good shape, appears to lock up correctly, what's not to like. Warts, HA!, not many! I think you did well on this one.

That's a mind set that'll have you owning more gun safes than dogs! But.....I think a man should have several of both.

This gun is exactly the type I like. Parker quality along with condition allowing usability. Shoot and enjoy, that’s why they made them. Nice one

Ah yes I’ve had a Parker GH 16 damascus for about thirty years . Guns had an inch trimmed on the barrels . It SST in the safe for years unfired until I started loading for damascus guns . Anyway I wanted a Parker 16 for quite a bit now I’ve got four VH grades two GH grades and a Grade 1 top lever hammer in 16 . And I still would like a DHE and perhaps a hammerless 32” . It’s a vicious never ending cycle :rotf:

Andy, you have found a nice pair of Parkers. Enjoy. Parkers weren't cheap and they were often used a lot but cleaned and were cared for by people who appreciated them. That is just my opinion why you find them like yours that show much use but may very well be original, you will see many that are not nearly as nice as those two.

Darn nice Parker! Enjoy
