So whats on your 2021 Parker shopping list?

I hesitate saying this but I really am satisfied with my Parker collection and would be hard pressed to sell one to buy one. I have shot them all in 2020 and plan to do the same starting with the new year. But if a good AH 12ga or 10ga Damascus comes to market I would be very tempted. I would love a AAHE from the teens but unless one drops out of the heavens that will continue to be a an unmet desire.
As we all know sometimes we don't know we desire a gun until one comes to market that just flots your boat!!
How about you???

Dean Romig 12-22-2020 07:14 PM

Unless something comes along that I just can’t live without, like a small bore graded Lifter, I really need to complete my project Parkers. I think I have four or five in various stages of completion that need to be completed before I take on any more to add to my collection.

I have a couple of duplications in my small group and a couple of holes. I would like to swap the duplicates to fill some holes. I would love to find a nice high condition 28 VHE Remington skeet and then there is that long barrel 28 out there somewhere with my name on it!

Matt Buckley 12-22-2020 07:48 PM

A nice EH or NH on a 3 frame or better yet, 2 frame for a little lighter carrying is on my list.

Shane Jennings 12-22-2020 08:01 PM

I really "need" a 20ga with pretty wood and engraving. I REALLY "need" a similar 28ga too.

Rich Anderson 12-22-2020 08:33 PM

It's sad to admit but I want nothing:crying: I have come to the realization that there are to many guns both rifles and shotguns and some need adoption. It's been a long road to get here but this is where I'm at.:banghead:

Andrew Sacco 12-22-2020 08:35 PM

Wow : ( I just want a first real Parker. I started so late. I'm not sure if I'm a collector or shooter yet, probably a shooter so I hope that's OK. I drive my cars and they're not garage queens I don't know why I'd change my philosophy at this stage of the game.

Grouse/Woodcock: 16g on 0 (or 1 frame if this is prohibitive)
Pheasant: A VHE or GHE in 12 in good condition 1 1/2 frame (are there no PH and NH? out there?)
Ducks: I'm not sure yet if I'm willing to lug a 10g, never handled one, but they sound intriguing so the Pheasant gun could double for this.

You know what's going to happen? The list will grow. It just sucks... Better than heroin I guess.

I agree! I'm lucky enough to have young adult kids that seem happy to get my guns I think they can use or selling them on GB if it's something not right for them. Overall, I really don't like collecting too many guns, and have been aggressively thinning the herd, completing projects, and buying to complete my goals.

Regarding Parkers, I'm looking for a very late Ilion made Parker VH, PH or GH at a fair price, 12 gauge is fine. Ejectors don't matter either way to me.

CraigThompson 12-23-2020 01:04 AM

Hmmm a VHE or GHE or DHE 20 gauge with 30” or 32” barrels . I’d also like a VH , GH or DH 12 gauge with 32” tight choked barrels and a stock that would be considered trap/pigeon dimensions . And of course a VH/VHE 28 gauge on a 00 frame .

Mills Morrison 12-23-2020 04:51 AM

Late Meriden and Remington GH(E) ‘ s are my official goal. We have some other big things coming up in 2021, so may lay low for the most part. Could also use some more 20 and 28 gauges.

Famous last words! Better stay away from gun shows, S X S events, and the For Sale section. :)

For me, I'm not looking for any particular gun, but always interested in nice 32" smallbore dove guns. Well, maybe a 28" lightweight 20 ga. for quail, too ............

SRH

Daryl Corona 12-23-2020 07:30 AM

I'm with Rich. I'm maxed out on Parkers and have plans this year to move as many as I can at one of the SxS events. But..... I'm a sucker for smallbores so who knows what appears.

Bob Jurewicz 12-23-2020 07:45 AM

I'll continue to look for two special guns.
1. Parker Repro 20 GA with 26" Q1/Q2, St Stk and Splinter, 14 3/4" LOP.
2. Nice condition late 16 GA DHE 1 frame with 26" Barrels and good dimensions.

Randy G Roberts 12-23-2020 07:50 AM

Not sure as of yet, it appears that 2020 may still be a work in progress.:corn:

Harold Lee Pickens 12-23-2020 07:55 AM

Dont really need, but would like to have:
1. Grade 2 or 3 20 ga, I have a VH, VHE, and a PH.
2. Perhaps a light 12 ga. for pheasant hunting wild birds, maybe a 1 frame gun. I have
never in my life been duck hunting, so dont need a heavy gun.
3. I have 12 , 16 ga guns --4 are parkers, but still holding on to that set of 16 ga 34"
Twist O frame hammer gun barrels and frame. Really wanted to get some feedback
from my good Parker friends at the SXS shoots this year, hopefully/maybe this year.

Mills Morrison 12-23-2020 08:03 AM

Harold, Hope you can make something out of that 34” 16. I have a project I hope to make something out of this coming year too, but it is just a 26” 16

Jay Oliver 12-23-2020 09:27 AM

I added some good Parkers this year and should be content. I may consolidate a bit and focus on 1 or 2 special guns this coming year. Here's my list in no particular order:

1. Grade 3 or 4 lifter in 12 or even 16 if possible(I got one in 10 gauge this year and would like to find one in a smaller gauge, they are just gorgeous to me)
2. Shootable Back Action(I just love these early guns, I have passed on a few projects that I wish I had bought)
3. 16 PH with twist barrels(I missed a chance to get one this year and didn't realize how nice it would have been)
4. 20 VH(straight stock would be preferred)
5. SBT(I am long overdue for a Parker trap gun)

We'll see what happens. Over the holidays I am going to go through my Parkers and a few other guns and see what I might want to move along so I might fund next year's goals.

I should have a few projects coming back repaired/refinished, which I am also excited about.

George Davis 12-23-2020 10:45 AM

Three guns:
1. Browning Citori 28 gauge 32 inch barrels Grade III or higher for sporting clays
2. Parker 12 gauge raised rib 32 inch barrels 2 Frame G Grade or higher
3. GH 16 gauge with 28 or 30 inch barrels on a 1 frame
All shooters as they will be shoot on regularly.

charlie cleveland 12-23-2020 11:38 AM

a 8 ga and maybe a coupla 10 ga s would be ok with me....charlie

Greg Baehman 12-23-2020 12:54 PM

At the very top of my list would be a Parker Reproduction BHE .410 on a 0000-Frame -- make sure it is straight gripped, has a splinter forend and is equipped with double triggers please! I don't believe I could ever justify current market pricing for one of these rare little jewels, so it is and will probably remain a pipe dream for this Ol' Po' Boy.

Beyond the above gun, others on my list that I'd like to find would be:
* Just one example of a Parker Reproduction .410 on a 00-frame in any gauge (a single gun that is not a part of a 28/.410 bi-gauge set).
* Just one example of any Parker Reproduction 20 or 28ga. w/28" bbls. that is factory choked IC/M in any grade.
* Just one example of a Parker Reproduction 12ga. w/28" bbls. that is factory choked Q1/Q2 in any grade.
* Just one more example of a Parker Reproduction DHE Sporting Clays Classic model with a straight grip, splinter forend and double triggers (other than the two known to exist).

Rich Anderson 12-23-2020 02:20 PM

I don't think the sxs events are in my future this summer so I won't be tempted by the vendors. For years the Southern produced at least two guns sometimes three. I've stayed away from the internet sights for a while now. After my 6th rifle this year was completed just prior to heading to Wyoming the end of September the light came on and flashed enough is enough already.

Jack Damon 12-23-2020 02:34 PM

My tastes are pretty basic, so, being a super seasoned citizen with limited years left in the tank, the last Parker I'd hope for would be a 16-gauge Trojan, original chambers, minimum 28-inch barrels (were Trojan 16's ever made with 30-inch barrels?), original chokes (M/F) - a gun as close to unaltered as possible.

Not many but I believe they were made with 30" barrels.

Alfred Greeson 12-23-2020 09:49 PM

Take a look at the guns international site, put in parker trojan 16, there are two on right now. Barnett has a nice one for $24xx

Brett Hoop 12-23-2020 11:47 PM

Maybe Santa is bringing me one, I don’t want to jinx it.

But I know I hope to have more opportunity to hang around other Parker people in person. Because whether we shared a drink a meal or a round of clays I truly enjoyed all of that and the conversation.

Jack Damon 12-24-2020 12:30 AM

Thanks Alfred - I have been watching the Trojan 16's, especially the one you mentioned.

Bill Murphy 12-24-2020 09:53 AM

Greg, I also want a #0000 frame Repro, but I have an advantage. I think I know who owns the BHE #0000 double trigger .410 that I ordered. If I'm real nice, maybe he will sell it to me. He doesn't know me and I have only met him once. It's worth a shot. I need a few more days to figure out what variation of Parker Brothers gun I want next year. I think I have everything I need, but a 28 gauge skeet would be nice. The eight pound #00 frame .410 skeet would be even nicer. I don't know where it is, but someone here probably owns it.

Gary Carmichael Sr 12-24-2020 12:47 PM

I do not really need anything but am always a sucker for a 20 gauge hammer gun, lifter or top lever, I believe they only made 15 lifters and about 35-40 top levers in all grades, so no wonder they are so hard to find in shootable condition, Gary

James L. Martin 12-24-2020 01:07 PM

Would like a 12ga 32" vent-rib, dt, tight choked, straight grip Parker, also a 28ga 30" vh. Let's hope the gun shows happen soon.

Rich Anderson 12-24-2020 02:31 PM

Gary your the king of Parker small bore hammer guns. I have three 16's but when it came to getting a 20 I had to go with a Boss thumb break gun.

Rick Roemer 12-24-2020 02:41 PM

I’d like to add a lifter to my modest collection. Love the mechanics of them and don’t currently own a hammer gun other than my muzzleloading fowler .

Larry Stauch 12-25-2020 01:25 PM

2021 Parkers

Whatever pops up that's unique and interesting.

charlie cleveland 12-25-2020 01:51 PM

a 4 gauge side by side with 40 inch barrels and 4 inch chambers.....charlie

Jim Beilke 12-25-2020 10:22 PM

Wouldn't mind a nice 20ga Trojan

Kerilynn Viccione 12-26-2020 10:45 AM

Late to the conversation, but I'd wish for the first Parker I ever had that introduced me to the world of Parker guns. I had to sell it back then, but have since realized I compare every Parker to it- even though it was a very plain, nothing special, early edition from the late 1800s.
As for a new purchase, I'd like something decorated with a rich history or interesting story.
Other than that, I definitely am wishing for a custom case to display my current collection.

Bill Murphy 12-26-2020 08:16 PM

Great post, Kerilynn. "Great history" or "interesting story" is pretty much how my present collection was put together and also pretty much what I am looking for in the future. I hardly own a Parker without a story.

Paul Ehlers 12-27-2020 09:53 AM

Probably the number one Parker addition on my wish list is one with Bernard barrels.

Ohhh how I've lusted over a few of them when my gun funds were low.

As long as I'm dreaming, a small bore Bernard would definitely scratch this itch!

Mills Morrison 12-27-2020 04:06 PM

I finally got a Parker with Bernard barrels this year and I love it. Now on to the B and A grades.

Charlie would 42" barrels suffice ?
https://www.guntrader.uk/guns/shotgu...01112102256008

Seems theres a bunch of double 8s and some double 4 bores just came on the market across the pond .

Bill Murphy 12-28-2020 07:45 AM

Milton, you are the master of understatement. The pair of 4 bore Watsons intrigues me a bit.
