Top lever right of center?

What does it indicate when the top lever is right of center when the breech is closed? Thanks.

Short answer - The top lever being right of center usually means the gun has not seen so much use that the friction surfaces of the bolt and the bolt plate have worn to the point that would allow the lever to come closer to and pass a central point.

The position of the lever when the gun is closed is relatively insignificant unless the gun is loose.

Has Not, or Has ?

When talking about a properly fitted Parker, lever position means nothing.

right of center

On an older gun 119 years old to be exact, wouldn't the right of center tend to indicate a repair to the bolt? And as I understand it that would involve welding to in effect re-side the bolt to "fit" again. It seems "suspicious" that a well used and shot 119 year old Parker would still have a top lever right of center absent a repair.

And when a "new" Parker left the "factory" in 1901 was the top lever right of center? Thank you.

Unless you’re trying to sell it.

When dealing with those not familiar with the Parker mechanism, yes. Lever position tells more on something like a Smith or a Fox. But even then, if it is tight and on face, that is all that matters.
