I had wondered where this Parkers had ended up
I almost bought this one last year when Pugs had it , I remember they cleaned the varnish off and said they sold it at a gun show earlier this year .
https://www.proxibid.com/Art-Antique...tionTopSection Will be interesting to see what it sales for . |
I like the round knob grip. Interesting how many 8 bores are for sale in the two RI auction, lots of choices Milton :corn:

Some other interesting big bores is the two Purdey 10 bores and the 8 bore , according to Purdey they only have about six 8 bores in their records . I thought of placing a bid on the Parker but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes above the estimate . Pugs had it listed for $4950 . |
yes it seems that there are more 8 ga s for sale and some at good prices..just bad timing for me....charlie

I thought If I can get it at the price the money saved from buying a more expensive gun I could get a lifetime membership instead . My annual membership ran out the other day so it would be a good time to upgrade . Besides I dont think I could get a cooler Parker 10 gauge then what I already have . But I like looking at the market and seeing what the big bores go for . |
It's quite possible you could buy an 8 for less in one of these auctions since so many are hitting the market at the same time. It will be interesting to observe.
Shooter grade 8's may benefit if RST does in fact make 8 ga ammo in the near future. |

I only see two 8s for the October auction , I guess I will see how much money I have by then . |
Push a plastic wad through the 9 gauge bore and make your own assumption about how hard it has to work to get through. My guess is that you are overthinking the situation. How would you ever tell the condition of the lifter 8 on RIA if you weren't actually at the auction?

From the bore measurements ive seen on Parker 8s they are more than generous for plastic wads . I wasnt specifically looking for a 8 gauge but any large frame Parker hammer guns .A #4 frame 10 ga would be preferable. I figure If I dont find one this year I can try again next year . |
yes a 4 or 5 frame ten would be nice...maybe you and me will snag one some day.....all my 8 ga s but one have had their barrels clipped so I wont have to worry about what size wad them boys use to make them new shells....charlie

4 frame 10s seem to be more common. 5 frames don't appear much

Im watching a live auction right now , theres a 4 frame C grade coming up in a bit . Im interested to see what it goes for . The bores are listed as very good but it needs some action work . I think it will easily surpass their $800 estimate .
When I dont have money is when there are some nice big bore doubles up for auction , when I have money there are not any coming up for auction lol such is life . |
Wow the grade 4 10 ga 4 frame sold for only $1100 , I thought it would at minimal got at least $1500 -$2500 .

Milton, are you telling us that you didn't buy that gun? Also, I was disappointed that you didn't respond to my comment about 9 bore English guns. We are, to be honest, in a learning situation here. Please respond.

Though not all of them had tight bores , we all know how widely bore diameter can vary in old doubles . |
The #4 frame C grade had more problems than I was willing to tackle.

Right now Im debating instead of buying another gun I would like to buy some cases of shells from RST . I will barely have time to go hunting with my Parker , we are about to start picking peanuts and processing them and I work 84hrs a week until about the end of November . I have 2 rifles I bought back in the spring I still havnt mounted scopes on . |
