Nice Edgar. I hope you will post this on the Fox board.

John Davis 08-24-2020 09:15 PM

That's pretty cool.

Harold Lee Pickens 08-24-2020 10:16 PM

Bill Jolliff 08-24-2020 11:26 PM

Hey Edgar, now you have to find the rest of the stuff.

It appears to be an early “pin” gun.

The shells are harder to come by than the guns themselves. I'm fortunate that my three had the shells with them.

There are several variations of the Fox Play Gun. Most have a top-lever, but some just have a stud for a barrel lug that engages a spring clip in the receiver. Top-lever above, spring clip stud below --

Some have a fixed hinge-pin and some have a spring-loaded hinge-pin which allows the gun to be taken down. The lower gun is a Fox Products Co. and it has the spring-loaded hinge-pin --

Now just need a leg-of-mutton case for one.

These A.H. Fox Gun Co. ads both show the top-lever --

I should make a nice gun rack for them. I made that gun rack as a kid and it was above the head of my bed with my Super-Fox, Meat-in-the-Pot, and my sporterized 03-A3, through my high-school and college years. After I retired and moved here I narrowed it for the Fox Play Guns.

Me too..... kinda.... sorta.

So the questions now: should the barrels be re-blued, the chambers lengthened, the stock refinished?? (And what about the chokes?!?):bigbye:

charlie cleveland 08-27-2020 05:26 PM

I say leave the chokes alone and bore the chambers out to 3 1/2 inches....duck gun supreme...I once could have bought 2 daisey double barrel shotguns and the gun rack from daisey ....thought the price was high at 350 dollars....looking back I should have bought them.....charlie

:eek:I would freak out if a toy gun started talking to me.

wayne goerres 08-29-2020 08:31 PM
