A old Grant and new shells

Great outing on the clays course Friday with my 1893 Grant side lock, sidelever, ejector (classic English gun). Have not shot this in a long time, newer guns have taken my interest lately. I shot exceeding well! Targets were shattered and more than a few were smoked. I was using two new shells: Italian made Experiencia Seeker 67mm 7/8 oz. #8 shot. at 1202 and RST 65mm paper Lite, 1 oz. loads 1175 fps #8 shot, Both shells worked great! Shot exactly where my eyes were looking and recoil very light. I will order a few more flats of these shells and get this gun out more frequently. It is like this gun as made for me and is a real joy to use. I can recommend these shells to anyone using a English game gun.

Sounds like fun. I really enjoy dragging the closet queens out and falling in love with them again. And you are spot on with your choice of shells.

Hi Eric, have any pictures of that beauty? I am sure we would all like to see it. Will have to look up those Experiencia shells

I picked this Grant up about 8 years ago. Looking for a nice gun to use. It has had some work, a refinish and sleeved barrels. Stock a bit too long so I had my smith shorten it a bit and re-use the leather covered pad. Do I wish it was a higher condition gun, a little but the price was just right to get into. It is a great shooter and has seen use by me on clays and hunting. I wanted a classic Grant to use as a shooter not a safe queen and it has proven to fit my needs beautifully.

Eric, I sent you a pm. Nice Grant.

I have a Grant back action hammer gun and have used both brand of shells you mention and was very pleased with their performance. You want some real joy try the RST 2 inch paper shell.

If I get to Heaven my first question will be, "What are you using for bait?
