what are the odds of finding consecutive NID 10 mags ?
Just noticed that 500472 is on GI and 500471 was recently listed on GB , I thought thats probably not a common occurrence ?

I seen a Turnbull restored Mag 10 sell for $2200 I think it was , which seemed low to me but I had a single trigger does that affect the price that much ? |
i'd like to know that the 3" chambers are factory, the flues is not a design for heavy loads.

There were 887 Ithaca NID Magnum-10s produced but scattered in among those were 87 Magnum-12s, so I'm not a good enough math guy to figure the odds of consecutive numbers showing up.
Attachment 86924 Allegedly there were only five hundred and some NID Super-10s produced. Attachment 86923 1936 was the last year the Super-10 was carried in the Ithaca Gun Co. catalogs. The Magnum 12s first appeared in the 1937 Ithaca Gun Co. catalogs. However, I've recorded Magnum 12s as low as 500144 so either they were making them earlier or the magnum frames were getting used way out of order. |
500,834 sold today at Morphy's. $2000 plus the juice, way too much in my opinion.

Isnt that about what a roughed up NID 10 mag brings though ? Although this one sold $2500 but I wonder if it brought less because of the single trigger and the restoration job ? http://www.dismalriverarmory.com/sho...canid10ga.html Its still listed on their site but it was marked on their GI listing months ago . I dont know if its because the way sellers take pictures but alot of the NID magnums look to have noticeable cast off and being left handed that would probably be awkward . Then again it just may be angle of the pictures . |
I would not mind owning a big Ithaca 10 gabut have never committed on one...I like reading about them first 10 gauges they were almost legends in there time...I should have said they were legends in there time... 10 gauges shooting 8 ga loads....now you have lots of 12 ga s shooting 8 ga loads....2 1/4 to 2 1/2 ounces of shot...rough on the shoulder for sure...the heavest load back in the heh day of the 8 ga was a 7 dram of black powder and 2 1/4 ounce of lead shot....this was a factory load...I guess some reloaders may have loaded some heaver loads....I have shot some 3 ounce loads in the 8 ga and the 10 ga but they were my own reloads.... Charlie....

I owned a Field Grade Magnum-10 from 1985 to 2001 and never hunted with it, or even fired a 3 1/2 inch Magnum shell with it. Bought it at a little shop along the coast of Maine. Sold it to the Hartmann brothers. Saw it one final time at a Vintage Cup at Orvis Sandanona where it was in Steve Lamboy's Ithaca Classic Doubles tent.

I want to try some of the boss bismuth 10 gauge loads , I think they are still in development . They were originally going with a 1 3/4oz load @ 1350 fps but now its a 2 1/16 oz load @ 1300 fps . From what ive read the guys using the boss bismuth really like the shot . They say its more spherical than traditional bismuth . |

I really need to getting into reloading for the 10 gauge but dont really have the space for it . |
I’ve half heartedly been looking for an Ithaca NID grade 2 10 MAG to go with my NID grade 2 10 super . Missed one on GB about three years ago . Dunno if I need or have a use for one , but it sure is nice to have options

I dont really look much at other gauges but it seems with 10 gauge doubles the asking prices can have a extreme spread from seller to seller for similar guns. Ive just picked out my next double well it came down to two potential guns . If one sells before the other by next month ill probably get the one still available . |
