Vintager's Cup Canceled

It was just announced that the 2020 Vintager's Cup scheduled in September at Hausmann's in Pa has been canceled for this year.

Brian Dudley 07-20-2020 10:22 AM

Not surprised, but disappointed.

At this point, it is safe to say that if you want to shoot, shop and see gunning friends, Come to Rock Mountain. It will likely be the only opportunity to do so left this year.

Harold Lee Pickens 07-20-2020 10:41 AM

Boy that sucks! Was planning on going, so disapointing. Feel bad for all those businesses /vendors hit hard again. Rock Mtn was always a possibility for me, now must make a decision

Daryl Corona 07-20-2020 10:52 AM

If you like to shoot then Mike's is the place. Nothing against Ernie's but Mike knows how to set interesting targets and he's giving away free beer this year.

So.... who's coming?

Vintage Gunners Cup

CANCELLED -- Please See Note Below -- 2020 Vintage Gunners Cup World Side-by-Side Championship

Dear Vintage Gunners and other Double Gun Enthusiasts,

After months of trying to get a clear picture of what it would take to get this year’s Vintage Gunners Cup off the ground and meet all the safety requirements, the Board and Hausmann’s Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays have decided to cancel this year’s event.

Pennsylvania’s current restrictions by county continue to bounce back and forth between green and yellow, limiting attendance at events from 250 to 50 people. At last year’s event, we had nearly 400 people attend. Pennsylvania has extensive requirements for events including sanitation, social distancing, keeping a log of everyone for contact tracing, etc., that would need to be met. This is feasible but if someone were to become ill, there are lingering questions on whether we would be covered by our insurance provider. New York State, where many stay and eat, has implemented restrictions on travel and 14-day quarantine requirements from many other states. These continue to change. Occupancy in hotels and restaurants is limited and could also create challenges. Hence, the Board and Hausmann’s has made the decision to cancel. It is disappointing situation for all of us.

We will start planning next year’s event immediately, for September 15-18, 2021. Our goal for next year’s event is to provide a truly event worthy of being called The Vintage Gunners Annual World Side X Side and Rifle Championship. We are fully intent on providing an event that all our members can be proud of and a celebration of our shooting heritage. We hope that our exhibitors and shooting participants will join us next year.

At next year’s Vintage Gunner Cup, I look forward to shaking hands with old friends, enjoying the comradery of standing beside fellow gun enthusiasts while inspecting my next potential purchase and not having to figure out who is behind the mask. Again, the 2021 Vintage Gunners Cup will be September 15-18, 2021.

Everyone continue to be safe, and Hammers Back!

Tom Snyder

President, The Vintage Gunners

Well that does it. I will be there for sure now. Thanks for the valuable information Daryl.

I was just saying last evening that this shoot and the Tulsa show would most likely not happen, very disappointing. I have heard nothing on the Tulsa show but I doubt it happen this fall.

Daryl Corona 07-20-2020 11:53 AM

I really hope you make it Randy. Don't be disappointed if the beer thing doesn't come off but there will be plenty of adult beverages after the shooting is finished under the grove of trees where the dogs are kept under the shade.:)

And as for you Harold.... I understand you are semi-retired so I expect to see your smiling face in the crowd.:bigbye:

Dean Romig 07-20-2020 11:55 AM

In observance of 'forum decorum' I won't say what I really want to and will only say this REALLY SUCKS!!!

It kinda reminds me of when our previous POTUS shut down federal parks during the budget shortfall shutdowns.... and that was just plain stupid!

Actually Daryl I am planning on being there barring disaster. I already have my room and cart booked. Looking forward to it.

Stupid ain't the correct term Dean. We are now subjects of the various politicians who are keeping this political virus alive.

Mills Morrison 07-20-2020 12:20 PM

At this point, I am counting on most large events being cancelled until there is a vaccine for the virus. From what I hear about that "don't hold your breath"

Richard Flanders 07-20-2020 12:30 PM

Yes, don't hold your breath. There has never been a successful RNA virus vaccine concocted to date.

Daryl Corona 07-20-2020 12:48 PM

Bet it's gone on or about 11/04/20.

But if there is one I'm betting on the team my daughter's a part of at Pfizer here in Andover.

Are you coming Mills and bringing your son?

I wish but unfortunately not. We were trying to make it happen, but Julia is having surgery next week and so we are laying low a little while after that

Dean Romig 07-20-2020 01:12 PM

I wish a speedy recovery for Julia.

Daryl Corona 07-20-2020 01:16 PM

Yes, by all means take care of Momma.

Chuck Bishop 07-20-2020 01:40 PM

Well, that will save me some money:crying: I'll just shoot more at "The Rock"!

Mills Morrison 07-20-2020 01:45 PM

Thanks for the well-wishes. What she cares about the most is opening day of dove season.

Gerald McPherson 07-20-2020 01:59 PM

There is a tremendous out break going on now in North Georgia. Some are very sick and some are in the hospital. Some are beginning to recover. I personally know about 40 that are sick. Gerald

Mills Morrison 07-20-2020 02:05 PM

Apparently, it is not good at all if you are in the unfortunate percentage that gets very sick from it.

Rich Anderson 07-21-2020 05:21 PM

Sorry to hear that Rich. You always have some wonderful eye candy. Take care and best of luck with the Docs.

Even with no underlying conditions there can be some life-altering impacts and no one knows what the long term effects can be.

nope -this guy gets it

Mills Morrison 07-22-2020 10:52 AM

Remember the line from W. C. Fields the Bank Dick? "What you need mostly is rest. Why, a little rest will do you more good than all the doctors in the world."

Only in America can a public health crisis be politicized.

Rick Losey 07-22-2020 11:11 AM

further off the Vintagers topic

I have these lines on one of my powder horns along with a setter on point with a rising grouse

" Better to hunt in Fields, for Health unbought,
Than fee the Doctor for a nauseous Draught."

from a poem by John Dryden a 17th century English writer (To My Honor'd Kinsman, John Driden)

Mills Morrison 07-22-2020 11:24 AM

I hope everyone who was planning to go to the Vintagers can go to Rock Mountain.

OH YES, WE HAVE TRAMPOLINE!!!

Mills Morrison 07-22-2020 12:36 PM

Trampoline targets are the best! They had one at Old Hudson the other month

Randy G Roberts 07-22-2020 01:43 PM

We have one at the local club that they appear to be inclined to throw true pairs off of. Seems to be a love hate relationship.

Brian Dudley 07-22-2020 02:35 PM

I see that some driving ranges are even using Trampolines.

The one that Mike had set up at last year's shoot drove me crazy and ultimately "ate my lunch." It was a simo (true pair) launch that gave you one more or less gently rising outgoer at about a 60 degree angle from the tramp, and the other one a more sharply rising bird at a significantly higher speed due to the angle impacting the tramp. The second bird went anywhere it wanted! I could always break either one of the pair but never both. I quit after 7 tries; what a blast!

Kevin I am quite certain the Mountain Man has been awake at nights scheming over target presentations including the "tramp". Looking forward to my first trip there.
